Playstation Home Players are known for taking the virtual world too serious and devoting a lot of their life to it. I knew a few people on my friends list who played it from the second they woke up to the second they went to bed. The had "girlfriends" on there, who they were with for over a year. GTA Online is obviously a more diverse world and is packed with a LOT more content. It makes PS Home as a virtual world seem like crap(not that it was good in the first place).

Do you think people will escape to San Andreas and take GTA Online a little too serious?

-Having relationships

-Treating their crib and character as if it was really them

-Taking their partner out on dates skydiving, golfing, movies, tennis, hiking, etc. (LOL)

I will admit when I was a teenager I got wrapped up in an online virtual world but not to the extent that some players go.

Is GTA Online the perfect escape for people who don't have a social life in reality?

What a stupid topic. PS Home was a sim. GTA Online will be nothing like PS Home. I think you secretly wish it was, and I have a feeling you're one of those people you described who spent their life on it.. Sorry to dissapoint.

...and if people wanted to treat GTA Online in that manner, what's the problem? Is it affecting your experience with the game? I didn't think so. If you're so concerned, why not volunteer yourself to be their chauffeur...or crash their "date" and blast their vehicle off the road?

Live and let live, friend.

You fail to understand the question. If you have read about GTA Online, it's more or less has the same features as home.

-Own a crib

-Hang with friends in a virtual world

-Play mini games

-Fully customize your character

-Go to the movies and do dozens of activities

I can go on and on. I'm asking, "Do you think people will lose thier life to GTA Online? Will people live a second life in the virtual world that is San Andreas."

I never said I had a problem with it. I'm not one to judge another for their actions. I'm just asking if you think people will take the game too serious. Will they go beyond the borders of the virtual world and take it as a second reality.

The only thing I'm getting from you here is that you are so desperately hoping it is what you're asking so you can spend your own life on it because of your failed social life.

Don't deny this either, it's so obvious,.

Of course there's going to be a percentage of people that will. It's inevitable.

I'm sure there were people who did that with Grand Theft Auto IV. I know people who do that with The Sims.

It comes as no surprise to me.

GTA 4 didn't really have any activities online. It's a hollow shell compared to GTA V in terms of content and features. I can't imagine what people will do in GTA Online.

Who cares? I don't see a problem with this as far as I am concerned. it's not going to affect me any so why should I get up in other people's business about how they choose to play the game?

The fact you needed to ask the question summed it up completely.

You weren't asking the question so you could pass on the answer to the people you described. You want the answer so you can sleep well at night knowing you'll have something to spend your miserable little life on instead of making sh*tty threads all day.

I caught you out, and now you're mad.

It's not a silly topic, it is legitimate and I can tell you youngins' that it's real. I remember in the early days of SA-MP some roleplaying communities were popping up, and there were entire servers filled with players on GTA San Andreas maps sticking to the road rules, getting drivers' licenses, building gangs through dialogue and negotiation (text chat), and so on. It was pretty intense stuff and anyone who joined the server to freeroam was banned. I gave it a go for a few days, it was fun but not for me.

I remember that I decided that I wanted to join the Yakuza, so I asked a low level thug guarding an entrance to take me to their leader, he took me to another player under heavy guard, tried to talk in the most convincing role playing way that I could, and he told me that he will take my application as a provisional member until he makes a final decision. A couple of real hours later I ran into another player from another gang who told me to come with him to kill some Yakuza, I declined and told him that I was aligned to the Yakuza (I had not earned Yakuza gang markings yet, so no way to tell my alignment). He said I passed the test and I was like "WTF!! they are actually testing people to see if they stick to the role playing!". Anyway I got promoted to a Lieutenant‎. Then I lost interest and stopped playing because it wasn't really my thing, I was just seeing how far it can go.

You'll find that by the time we are senior citizens people will just come out of their virtual reality life to work, eat and sh*t.

Hell, even that might change in a matrix scenario.

No, of course not. GTA V will surely be the first video game in the history of online games where no one at all takes it seriously.

LOL!  That's kinda awesome in a way.. it's all just roleplaying really.  I mean, people get on the game to live in a virtual world, that's what it's all about.  Having fun and delving into roleplay is a cool activity and concept to do from time to time.  I just watched a video last night of some guy playing a GTAIV mod where he had made all kinds of cop outfits and he got in his cop car and actually started patrolling the streets.  He could pull people over for speeding, or running lights, he actually had to get their I.D. after they stopped, get back in his cop car, run the license, information would come up... and then he'd have to give it back and sometimes they'd run, or pull a gun on'em.  It was kinda neat in a way.  Somethin fun to do every once and awhile.

I wouldn't mind playing GTA:ONLINE and being part of a crew of cops or SWAT and have to INTERVENE on another crew that's trying to make a heist.  Rockstar could make it to where the cops have to GET to the bank (or whatever location) as fast as possible before the criminal crew is able to get a lot of money (however long they decide to spend in the bank taking as much as they can) and stop them.  That would be super fun!

I remember I was playing GTA once and there was a Player in the game who supposedly ran the city, like he was Scarface or something.  He had like 10 of the players in the game that were his followers, basically just riding his dick.  They would do anything he said and he was never alone.  I kid you not he would travel around the map with a car in front of him, behind him, and a chopper over head.  I thought it was the funniest f*cking thing.  So I asked if I could join and he had me meet him in one of the rooms in the strip club.  Three guys escorted me in and he had several more in there standing guard.  So I go into the room and he starts talking about a bunch of non sense, then I said "Its my city now bitch!" as I dropped a grenade and dipped out of the room, LOL! I killed him but I was quickly gunned down by his gay boy men.  Then I was harassed till i quit the game, It was the funniest f*cking thing.

Yes they will, and there's no problem with that since they aren't ruining the fun of others.

Is it a little weird? Sure, but too each their own.

This is too massive of a world for this to not be possible.

I think you have things sorta kinda half right.

While people with no social lives will take full advantage of this, those with overly populated lives will do the same. Video games are an escape and should be treated as such. Also there are those like myself who also play with friends who live in different states. I have good friends from California where I moved from, so for me its cool to be able to do this with gta online. Its not something you can completely neglect everything else in your life but it is fun to take seriously.

I have never really heard of stuff like this going on...

however, i wish rockstar could allow us to choose between serious free roam, and fun free roam. i loved f*cking around in iv, but sometimes it would have been cool to have more serious games.
