This is finally it.

One week left. One week before we will finally, finally, after 693 days, or 16,632 hours, have a copy of GTA V in our hands. But it's much greater than that.

It's been a wait that has, arguably, defined this generation of video gaming, and I'm sure will define video gaming as a whole so far. GTA V is the finest farewell this generation could receive, a generation that has coughed up other Rockstar classics like IV and RDR.

On October 25, 2011, Rockstar put the whole world on notice with just four characters:

#GTAV

Since then, a slow trickle of information up until the tail end of 2012 defined the wild mix of frustration, excitement and sheer curiosity gamers all over the world experienced. Both you and I have been part of this wild mix, and it's been one hell of a ride. Cut to today, and time really does fly. If I'd told you 'GTA V will be here before you know it', I probably would have copped many punches in the face.

For all the frustration of waiting for the greatest game ever to arrive, I must say it's been fun. We've watched the Mapping Los Santos thread grow and grow, hitting 1178 pages before the awesome forum upgrade; we've watched a stack of trailers about 200 times each all up (and the rest!); and have spent hours keeping an eye on the Newswire, or just as much time hitting 'Refresh' on the home page of gtav.net!

So to those reading this: the wait is just about over. The time has come. OUR time has come. Rockstar's time has come.

It's been a pleasure!

Phil.

More than just a game,  a masterpiece in the making

I actually can't believe it's just a week to go. We've all come a very long way.

Wow you people are a bit moody aren't you? No sh*t it's just a game, nothing wrong though with looking back at the long amount of anticipation in the past 2 years.

Some people are acting like it's a life-changing event. Go out and explore the real world. And yes, i will really enjoy GTA V, but I'm not acting as if Jesus has come back to Earth.

I think the wait has been fun. Its like im a little kid again waiting for christmas. The last 2 weeks before christmas are the best. The tingle in your stomach. Of course, i want to play the game, but if i could choose from getting the game tomorrow or 17th, id take 17th, because i actually like the wait. Its the best part.

Yeah guys it's been a great wait. I remember the "where's the blue" topic, then "Genesis" where deepthroat messed around with us.  I think from back then to now it's been the longest time I've ever been waiting for a game.

The 17th will be an important day. I mean in the past few years V was a constant part of my spare time in front of the computer.. browsing the forums for new information and so on.

So all in all, the wait is the best. But playing the game will be even BETTER!

It's just a game.

You need happy pills, sir.

I don't get people like this? I mean, if you're not excited as the rest of us and letting your inner child take over in this last week of brutalizing anticipation, then why are you even in this thread, at the very least; why even reply? I don't mean to offend you in any way, I just don't see you as the type of guy I'd enjoy hanging out with, much less antagonize the streets of Los Santos with upon the release of Online.

I'm stoked as hell and appreciate this thread.  :panic:

5 years is an lifetime to work on developing a single game...I have no doubt R* will deliver a 99.9% awesome game because of it. For anyone who has been hanging on every word R* has to say for the past 5 years I'm sure the 17th will feel like the greatest day ever to them, cheers.

Yes, we've come a fairly long way since R* first announced GTA V on their website. These few more days will feel like forever though  :panic:

Who's Jesus........

Horus. The Egyption god. Either that or he's a Palestinian.

OT:

Some of us have been waiting for 5 years....
