What do you think the highest altitude in this game will be in terms of being compared with the other Gta's.

 

If i remember correctly San Andreas had the highest altitude since Gta V, can we expect an increase in this? what are everyones thoughts on this?

I've played that Yup... at first thoughts i thought Gta V will be as large as that game but now that doesn't seem likely.

 WOW even at that height the clouds and everything look amazing... but i mean lets say you get in a helicopter and just hold down the Ascend button... i'd like to go really really high.

DAMN. That is like 10 km in the sky. Especially with great draw distance, it's going to be amazing doing free falls. Jesus, I can't even contain my excitement!!!!

There was supposedly a some video of a player falling, and it took him about 2.5 minutes to reach the ground. I don't know the authenticity of that report, but it has been discussed several times on this forum. If that video is true, then the max altitude could be at least in the 20,000 - 25,000 ft range. That's more than 5,000 ft higher than JC2, btw.

The screenshots of the skydivers looks really high, easily 3km+ in the air. That's more than enough for me

i wouldnt be surprised if rockstar added the ability to go to the edge of space and be in a state where gravity doesnt affect you for a brief moment, then being satanically pulled to the gta V earth lol

about 20,000 feet, to be honest when flying a plane would there really be a need to go that high? considering the map isnt bigger than 49 Miles of area lol,

 

purely for base jumping I guess

 

I reckon 20,000 to 25,000 feet, can we walk around in the plane and put it on auto pilot? especially the cargo planes, if you are online and wanna check out some rides while the plane is in auto pilot lol

There wasn't actually any video of this happening – the CVG guys just told us about the 2,5-3 minute parachuting sequence on their youtube channel in relation to the hands-off demo they were shown months ago.

I calculated it using the following.

Flew to max altitude and jumped.

76.3 second fall to impact.

 

76.3 seconds - 12 seconds (time from 0 to 120mph) = 65.4 seconds X 176 ft/second (120 mph) = 11517 feet.

Add in 1483 feet (distance fallen in the first 12 seconds from 0 to 120 mph) = 12800 feet

Remember though that JC2 gravity was f*cked, jumping off a 100 ft cliff takes like 5 seconds.
