The forum colours the links for some reason. Then, when he copies them from our posts, he has the WYSIWYG editor activated, and so copies the colour as well. Methinks that's what keeping it from working.

If you change it back to the basic editor you will see what has happened to the link:
http[color=#666600]:[/color][color=#880000]//www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvoD7ehZPcM[/color]
In order for it to work, I think the colour tags need to be deleted.

As Tacymist said, it would be easier for him to just go on Youtube and copy the video link himself from the address bar though. Paste it in a post, and click "preview". It should be working.

The above link I copied and pasted from this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvoD7ehZPcM

As you can see it doesn't work. For some reason url's pasted from between code tags don't work properly.

The url below is identical to what was between the code tags, but was taken from my address bar.

^ As you can see it works.

So basically, don't copy url's from between code tags and try to use them to embed videos, they appear to be bugged. But url's from your address bar will work normally.

Just click on the link now and paste the url from your address bar into your post. You don't even need to use any special tags for it, the url alone will be fine. A video will appear in your post.

This will be your result:

No tags necessary.

ArchKnight, as it turns out you can simply put just the url in your post and the forums will automatically embed it for you. Which is pretty cool.

You realise the colours in the box are for expected code syntax, so after http: you have the //, so it thinks it's an HTML comment, so it colours it. The problem is when you copy FROM the box, the forum copies the colours too, which is odd.

Videos have been working fine here too.

I posted a Youtube link and the video was automatically embedded, even though I didn't comply with the BB code protocol. If that was a glitch, please don't fix it; if that wasn't a glitch, splendid upgrade.

Not a glitch. It's a feature of this new IPB version.

When you go to Youtube instead of copying the URL scroll down and click on "Share" and copy that link then post it in the box where you make your post and the video will appear for you.

Worked for me. Not sure why it won't for you, unless you're adding it in the code box; which you shouldn't. Just paste the link in the comment box and hit reply.
