Now that we have a fully mapped ocean floor, I'm wondering what will happen once we get to the end of the map? Will the ocean floor just start to drop off sharply and it just goes down forever - similar to how you in previous games you could fly or boat continually in one direction and you never actually get anywhere. If you just keep diving lower and lower forever it could get pretty intense! The Abyss...

I think the depth will increase as you get further from land. Eventually your submarine will implode due to the pressure from the water.

Obviously the detailed ocean floor will only be right around the island. I cant imagine it to go very far at all. After that I imagine it to just be all sand.

I never really thought of this before. Hmm, I hope we can go out quite a ways! I would love a BIG ocean :D

In terms of depth, I would assume that there will be an ocean floor. It won't be bottomless. Pretty much similar to San Andreas.

Something similar to san andreas, where it becomes increasingly more difficult to swim/sail outwards untill youre effectively not moving

I agree most detailed stuff will most likely be around the land. Then it will probably just be sand and then drop off like the other user said and sub or player will implode.

What second poster said basically! Going down too much will push pressure towards critical level, when either we simply won't be able to proceed or get killed in process for keep trying! No matter submarine or scuba gear!

The way GTA renders things, they could put infinite ocean in every single direction like they did with GTA IV. On the ocean floor, there probably won't be any details too far out, just sand, and then eventually if you go out too far or too down you're start losing HP like in GTA IV and eventually die.

Call it dehydration.

If previous GTA's told us anything, it's R* doesn't like invisible walls. I'd imagine it's the same as in IV where you just keep going and going but don't actually get anywhere.

Actual hand made ocean floor will be close to the shore, the rest will probably be just generic ocean floor like the one in SA and won't be infinitely deep. Again, just like in SA.

guessing it'll just be a sandy bottom after that.

I hope it just drops off. A bottomless abyss would be badass.

Well if you ever tried it in GTA IV it basically said turn around or you'll be blown to sh*t...

"Crush depth", possible?

About twice the distance from land as the pier with the amusement park.  At that point, the ocean bottom plunges downwards and becomes literally an underwater cliff, just like the one in the 1989 movie "The Abyss."
