Breakable objects for Vice City - Problem
Posted 04 September 2013 - 09:03 AM
What I'm struggling with is creating a breakable object for Vice City by following a tutorial that covers the idea but for SA
I manage to reach the part where you export the binary data and open RW analyze but that's as far as I can get
The problem that I'm facing is that there is no 'Mesh Extention' as shown in the pic in the tutorial and there is no way for me to add the binary data, I tried adding it to the 'Big Mesh PLG', but I get an error while trying to read the 'Big Mesh PLG' after adding the binary data to it.
RW analyze Error: Range check error.
Note that I'm using 3DS Max 2014 and on 'part 2' of the tutorial I export the DFF & COL via Kams scripts.

Wooah, this is a cool idea.
I will enjoy to try some breakable objects like a ... bridge/building
I hope you will figure out how to fix it, because it is really interesting.

Anyway a while ago I managed to add a custom value and attach the Mesh Extention mem address to it along with the binary data and managed to get the object ingame, thing is the object when shot/hit/bumped falls of and goes underground leaving me with a 'wtf did I do wrong question'.

If you cant find "Mesh Extention", you can add it by Right-click on "Extension", then "Add Section". Which I think you did. Now the object fall through ground seems like collision problem, You can add spheres around corners of broken pieces before exporting collision file. Dont know how it works in VC, but AFAIR its kind of was tricky in SA.
OT : New layout of forum looking good

Well it's official, I suck at mapping. I still can't figure out how to properly add the object ingame halp
