Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have yet to see/read any news on how the hand-to-hand combat will be in this game. Is it just insane button-mashing, or will you actually be able to counter? I know many people will say, "This is GTA! Brrrrrrratttt bang bang bang!"

The reason I bring this up is because if the hand-to-hand combat is actually on point, coupled with the fact that we can give/share money online........

(breaking the 1st rule, sorry guys!)

Fight Club anyone? biggrin.gif

Weekly fights at my property! Any fighter who decides to cheat (or is salty after a loss) by pulling out a gun, will be taken care of on site, via my crew.

Who in their right mind will walk around online unarmed? Unless it's organised fighting in a controlled state, then it'd be cool. Backstreet bare knuckle fighting with bets on the table. Sounds good, providing the fighting combat is a lot more intricate.

You could counter in IV, so you can probably counter in V.

This reminds me of http://www.imdb.com/...h0323743/quotes :

"Belle: I warn you, I know karate!"
"Leon B. Little: [points his shotgun at her] I warn "you", I know Winchester!"

In this GTAV oclock episode it's mentioned that the melee
combat is more free flowing. Sounds good to me. Shifty41s_beerhatsmilie2.gif

In a deathmatch you can change the parameters like arena size, what weapons, number of lives so it could be possible.

Maybe you could set up a 1on1 dueling Round Robin tournament.

Awesome idea. I think the strength stat will play a role and make it even more fun.

^^^^^ Valuable input

I just hope they sort out the down on thr ground mechanics. It was actually quite hard to hit em when they're down, i found myself still punching the air for a while before said Protag figured out to start kicking them

If the melee combat is really as sophisticated as we hope for, someone ought to make a Tyler Durdin in GTA Online biggrin.gif

I definitely have nothing against a well-oiled combat system. In GTA IV, it pretty much felt like a button-mashing fest where all you had to do was get the enemy to the ground and start kicking the sh*t out of them (or bashing/stabbing the sh*t out of them). I'd like combat to be a little more difficult than that.

Well, there's a ton of games. For one thing, there are games that are focused specifically on one-on-one melee combat, such as Tekken or Soul Caliber. Since I highly doubt that Rockstar made the game into a fighter game, I'm going to rule those out. Could you, by any chance, be talking about Sleeping Dogs? Because the only other game with melee combat that I can think of that is like GTA is Saints Row, and the most sophisticated that has ever been is deciding what fighting style you want, and even that wasn't necessarily fun, as the only differences I could spot were differences in speed attack confused.gif

You could counter in IV, so you can probably counter in V.

You could only avoid punches. Doing a counter hit doesn't work.

What do you mean?

If you countered, and hit just at the right time, right after you avoided the hit, a counter animation would show.

Yes, in singleplayer, but this is the Online section. Now I'm thinking, why is it in the Online section?

Because you can share money online, essentially making a cash prize for the winner of each bout. We can even organize our own brackets in 16 player lobbies, like the Sweet 16 in college basketball.

Increase the cash prize each round, and the winner of the championship round will obviously have to defend his/her title the following week. I wanna make this a weekly thing!

That's been my plan. Since it's a 16 player max lobby online, this lobby will be comprised of just Fight Club members. As soon as that day's tourney is over, everyone can go back their separate ways to their respective crews.

Once we all own properties, I'm thinking a different person's home every week.

From run-down spots to legit, nice looking homes. I think I read somewhere you can customize your property? No link at the moment. I'll try to find it later

If you're going to make it a weekly thing, why not have two tournaments a week and have a tournament at the end of the month with just the champions of the past month in a winner takes all for a substantial amount. Just a suggestion if this takes off.

True. There are many ways we can tweak this Fight Club if the H2H combat is really on point. And of course I know I'm not the only player here who has this idea. I'm sure there will be many "Fight Clubs" going on once GTA Online really takes off.
