I really hope so. Nothing can compare yet to how BF3 did it.

Those controls took practice to get used to. There is a reason why you don't see just anyone hopping in a helicopter.

I think that for GTAV the controls should be a little simpler than the controls in BF3.

BF3's controls are epic but take some time to master. I hope they aren't too arcadey.

Thats what makes it so great. Takes practice and skill, just as it does IRL.

its hard to practice in BF3 when people just take it and fly around. I rarely get a chance to hop in and fly

Go and do the 1st co-op mission. Quickest way to learn. Try and find someone online who will let you practice that mission with them until you get good at it. That, or find a server with only a couple people in it.

I haven't played BF3. How different are the helicopter controls (PS3) to GTA IV?

in BF3, the pitch and roll for the helicopter always kills me. Its about finding the right control setup that best fits you and what feels normal.

This, and the helicopter physics were so much better. They had a much better sense of inertia.

I assume the heli controls would be the same as IV, but I doubt the jet controls would be similar to BF3, although it would mean only good pilots could actually do some damage in GTA:O.

I can promise you the controls will be like San Andreas/GTA IV. BF3 might as well be a Jet/Heli simulator how hard it is. GTA V won't be anything like BF3.

There are still plenty of bad pilots with the GTA SA planes, just my experience playing on MTA and SAMP.

I hope they make it like BF3, the Annihilator and Buzzard in GTA IV were way too easy to master. I want more of a challenge.

This is GTA. It's suppose to be fun.

... Or just get into an empty server on Caspian or Kharg Island. Easiest way I found to practice flying, when you die you just literally have to spawn in another plane or chopper, and it's definitely much more convenient than taking a spot over someone who can actually fly it in a "real" game.

Agreed about the cockpit crosshair, but I wouldn't say the BF3 controls are easier than the GTA IV ones. Maybe in combat yes, I find it much easier to fight against infantry and other vehicles with the chopper in BF3, but actually learning to fly the thing was much harder to me in that game. Flying in both San Andreas and IV was extremely easy whether in the PC or the PS3, it really isn't hard to take helicopters and planes from one point to another, and with a little practice you can easily perform stunts and effortlessly fly between buildings and under bridges. In Battlefield 3, on the other hand, it does take time to dominate aircraft. As stupid as this might sound, I even felt kinda proud of myself the first time I succeeded on landing an airplane in the Kharg Island aircraft carrier tounge.gif

And while Battlefield 3 controls do feel more realistic, the engine itself is far from being a simulator. You have no control of the landing gear, your aircraft never stalls or overspeeds, and it is surrealistically hard to turn airplanes, especially taking in account you're flying F/A-18's and Su-35's. It doesn't compare in anyways, for example, to Flight Simulator X. Furthermore, realism isn't always an equivalent to being good - Much for the contrary, flying airplanes in Battlefield 3 feels extremely limited. Maybe it's just because there aren't many places in maps for you to "stunt" around, but simply doesn't feel like giving you the freedom that, for example, the Hydra in San Andreas offers. Jets in Battlefield 3 aren't made for having fun or be useful means of transportation and team support, they are made quite simply for a terrible, boring and skilless dog-fighting system that doesn't feel authentic in any way. You can barely give any support to your teammates on the ground with jets, they are just conceived to fight each other - Which isn't so fun when there is only 4 jets per map. (Oh, right, but you can buy a 15 dollar DLC to fix that!)

Of course, that is not to say flying airplanes in San Andreas is realistic. Take-off and landing speeds are way too fast, some aircraft just steer way too easily, the lock-on on the Hydra is way too simple, etc. Therefore, with that said, I hope the flying controls and engine in V feel superior and more realistic to those of SA, but still not as limited as those in Battlefield 3. Helicopter controls were perfect for me in IV, they felt considerably realistic and, at the same time, easy to master, and were one of my favorite means of transportation around Liberty City. When it comes to airplanes, I think they should have a more demanding take-off and landing distance and feel more authentic to handle during flight.

WHAT!?

BF3 has some of most contemptible and unrealistic flight controls and physics ever. I'm not some sort of 'Realistic Steak' guy, but seriously, they were dreadful.

San Andreas was far better.

In BF3, pitching and yawing is controlled by separate sticks, as opposed to in GTA where one stick controls both. Furthermore, in BF3 only little stick movement is required to achieve a reasonable speed and to not over-manoeuvre, which thus yields massive crash potential for n00bs and cack-handed kids.

GTA V will surely not use an aerial control scheme such as BF.

I don't think it would be the default controls. But I hope you can go into the settings and change it to at least something similar to BF3.
