In the first trailer when we seen the people with the camping gear I got really excited thinking we were guna have loads of dense forest area to explore, and GTA V being Rockstars biggest game to date I was hoping for something at least 3 times the size of RRD's Tall Trees area (which was awesome).
But so far all the evidence I've seen points to mountainous areas with trees scattered around them sparsely.
Do you think this is something Rockstar is yet to reveal or keep for the game or is it because all the land is like this in SoCal and there isn't much forest????
Thoughts?

There must be many a forest in Five only because Rockstar stated you can hunt in the Wilderness. Where else would the animals live?

Wow really?, there's gonna be plenty of forest space, you people are never satisfied, it's either not of enough of this or it's that.

He's not complaining that badly... He's just wondering whether there will be more forests? It's a valid inquiry, don't be so dramatic.

All you tree huggers relax. Rockstar stated in an interview that it is possible to get lost in the forest. I wanna turn off my HUD and get lost in a big old growth forest! colgate.gif

Southern California isn't really known for the density of their forests or tall trees, though they do have plenty of wildlife to hunt.

I'm just tired of the complaining, there's still more parts of the map that we haven't seen.

I don't. It was a few months ago but it was to the best of my knowledge a Youtube GTAV fan interview with a rockstar employee. Sorry but I stand buy my sketchy statement.

I don't care because R* does what they can. RDR's frame rate starts to drop sometimes when I'm in Tall Trees. I will never complain or be disappointed about limitations. It's pointless. What would you want R* to do?

Ugh, stop complaining. The graphics look great for a current-gen game of this scale.

Well, in a ad in GTA V, a spoof of "Planet of The Apes", there was a dense forest and a big mountain in the background. confused.gif

Well while searching, I found footage of the online trailer where there is EVEN LESS trees! nervous.gif

I hate topics like this about someone saying the hate something about GTA V. You haven't even played the bloody game yet! How can you possibly know if there is little or no forest? R* shows different angles in each trailer so sometimes you won't see the trees because R* did not film them. I garantee you'll be happy once you're playing. Don't dis something you hardly know anything about.

Angeles National Forest

San Gabriel Mountain Wilderness

I will concede that the Angeles National Forest is not as dense as real eastern forests, but I expect GTAV forest to be at least as dense as in RDR's Tall Trees.

Here are some views of the Mt Waterman area.

And the point of the OP's question, which I agree with, is that it does not look like there is enoughaggregate forest area in GTAV. There was just barely enough in RDR - it was all squished up into a small northeast corner of the map.

Similarly, I have not seen any vast desert area in GTAV, not at all like RDR.

Yeah. I'm from Oregon, so I know what a forest is supposed to look like.
The ones in Cali burn down too often to get large. That and they have the incorrect type of soil in S.Cali to allow the trees roots to get strong and deep enough to support the bigger ones. I mean, they can get big, but I mean BIG.
