Well, I like the ideas of America, how it's supposed to be a melting pot, though I think the government kills it for me.

Proud? Not really, because of the history of our nation. Though, if it wasn't for slavery, I probably would be in Africa miserable, sooooo......

As soon as the Harper Government falls I'll be playing this song.

It's a disgrace what the Tories have done to Canada; becoming a lapdog of the United States.

Lol. As will I, friend. It feels as if he's been in power for far too long.

By 2015, he'll have been in power for 9 years. That's long enough for any government.

Obviously if you go to Rio de Janeiro in the Christmas/New Year you will find a whole lot of pretty chicks. All the upper/upper middle class girls from all around the country go there at the year-end (which is our summer time).

Nationalism is a parasitic disease more than anything else, it is not the country that you should feel proud of, but rather the people in and outside of it.

Well I'm from Croatia, and my country is in the mess right now. Politics are in sh*t right now, we're in dept for millions and millions and with that dept we entered the EU right now. However, people are nice in here, so that's what I am proud of. People, not country (land).

His history is correct. If it weren't for slavery it'd be unlikely there would be many black people on the American continent.

I'm not going to say I'm proud to be an American, but I'm pretty proud of the country.

A bold little rebellious f*cker it was. Young. Full of piss and vinegar with wonderful ideals. Proud of the most diverse landscape...all the grass...all the trees...all the mountains and deserts, wet lands, and dry lands.

The drive of its people and the innovations, ideas, and inventions they created.

Yes. Northeastern women are f*cking ugly.

I gotta say, I'm pretty damn proud to be Brazilian, myself. At the time I spend half of my year in Canada though and unfortunately I leave Brazil to go up north tomorrow. It can be a terrible country to some, but the thing that I love about it is that nothing comes down to Human Development Index. People can be very happy with the single things like playing soccer and going to the beach. It's fantastic how people can enjoy themselves the majority of the time.

I guess I should speak of Canada since I am also a Canadian citizen... I admire the country a lot. people's politeness and education, the clean streets and the will to help is always there, the freedom to roam the streets without being in danger is a great feeling, as well as them welcoming foreigners with open arms (not really now because of Harper's policies...), but I still don't feel as close to it as Brazil because of the reasons stated above.

I'm gonna talk about Quebec because I don't know how it is in other provinces.

I'm not proud at all. It's not a good province at all.
- Our municipal government is heavily corrupted: fraud, prostitution, drugs. The mayors of Laval and Montreal have both been laid off recently.

- We have the worst cops: The friendly street cop doesn't exist. Most cops are idiots who only know how to give tickets. There are been two murders recently and both of them are already considered as cold cases. They have no experience. And another thing: they are extremely violent. There were riots in Spring 2012 for the school price rise. They were beating the hell out of people for no reason, they were spraying complete bottle of cayenne pepper in people's faces. You can easily find videos of that on the Internet.

- We have a stupid law where English is forbidden on street sings and shops e.g.: Staples is named "Bureau en Gros", which means "Wholesale Office", and it's written "Arrêt" on stop sings. In the 80s, it was written "Arrêt" and "Stop" beneath. Just like they think French people don't know what "Stop" means.

- Federal government does not care about us. There was a town that was partially blown up by train carrying oil exploded(There are some pictures of this in the picture topic of this forum dating from June 6th). The federal government does not want to pay for removing oil from the ground be cause "It is not covered by the insurance" -as the prime minster said.

I don't like my province.

I'm from Nova Scotia. Pretty much everybody says bad things about the QPP; they don't have a good reputation here in the Maritimes.

There was a march in New York City and there was a topic about it on GTAForums. The news went all over the world.

What people here mainly complain about is that the QPP is EXTREMELY overzealous when pulling people over. It just seems they have nothing better to do than to bust people for going 1 Kilometre over the speed limit. They earn the title Pig.

About that student protest last year, personally, I agree; those students got the shaft. But I'm in the minority around here.

I'm guessing you are anglophone. Ya, I'm from Alberta and what gives Québec it's bad reputation out here seems to be the way over- zealous language police.

My country has just comitted a false flag operation through its proxies - a chemical weapon attack that killed children - and it is using that as a precursor for missile strikes to topple the Syrian government. So no, I'm not proud.

Pretty much this. I like being English and if possible I'd like to stay British. I love our traditions, I'm a true tea drinker. I think we have a great history and I'm proud of my ancestors and how far we've come.

However, I don't like my government, I don't like how my country is turning, I don't like how it's being invaded by Muslims and I don't like how you're labeled a racist when I decide to fly a St George's Cross from my window during the world cup. I recognise my government is responsible for more bad than good, then again who's isn't?

Oh ye I also hate how at times we are either the 51st state of America or a slave to Europe. Never British. In fact we're encouraged not to be British, as that would be wrong, obviously.

Singapore and no. this country have terrible hot and humid weather, unfair education standrard ( specifically elementary and high school is extremely difficult and they made it very hard to even go to university while people from overseas can easily get one).

which brings me to the next point which is the government giving too many jobs to immigrants and not giving any to the locals, companies are also hiring a lot more foreigners than locals due to cheaper pay and their higher education standard ( the % of locals going to government universities here is 25% due to it being so difficult to get in while overseas have a much higher %).

not to mention the high cost of living ( a small flat costs 600K (470K USD), a toyota camry costs 150K (117 USD)) and the mandatory 2 years national service.

I should also mention that you have to pay 300K and leave the country to even skip national service ( legal corruption?)

I can't wait to leave this sh*thole

He shouldn't assume he'd be miserable in Africa and look at slavery as some kind of blessing. Perhaps he should do some research on the impact slavery and other colonial acts had on that continent, particularly Western Africa which is where his ancestors are most likely from.

Well, ironically slavery has been a beneficial thing in retrospect to all the future generations of blacks who do well in the west. But it's true that Africa has been completely ruined by colonialism, but that's not really that relevant to his day to day happiness probably.

But maybe your point is that if Europeans hadn't interfered with Africa they would all be living in tribes there quite happily. Maybe happier then civilized people are. That might be true..

Yes, because native Africans were "uncivilized" before slavery, thankfully those thoughtful and ever caring colonial Europeans put them in chains and dragged them into boats across the Atlantic for their own good. There's absolutely no way that maybe in another universe those same black Africans could have prospered in their own lands without European interference or perhaps traveled to the West on their own accord if they felt life was better in that part of the world. Oh wait....

I suggest you take some time, even for a very brief look, at the history of Africa. I hate the way people look at Africa, it's one of the biggest continents in the world yet people find it impossible to accept that there was any civilization before colonialism, which is a horrible generalization.
