Ok so after reading this news about the character creation system I had a little idea,

"GTA Online introduces a new spin on traditional character creation with the hereditary-based creation system. Select your characterís appearance by choosing your parentís heritage, then use the gene dominance meter to dial-in which parent your appearance favors more. Additionally, you'll customize your character's daily activities - everything from family time to illegal work and sports to couch potato hours all have an impact on your characterís appearance and skill set (and you can always rank up your skill stats more via gameplay). As part of the Collectorís Edition package, you'll get Niko Bellic, along with both Claude and Misty from Grand Theft Auto III to use as parent options within the character creation system."

So from what I read here, had me confused at first, but if you comprehend it correctly, this feature is available for everyone from day one, and Niko Claude and Misty are three bonus parent options as part of the collectors edition. I might be getting ahead of things here but does that mean in the standard edition we will be able to select every other character from GTA history as our parents? For example choose a father from all the males from GTA "Tommy Vercetti" choose a mother "Mercedes" choose your gender set which one you take after and there is your basic character to begin with?
If this is right, who will you choose as your parents?

Speaking of parents, the Houser's mother (Geraldine Moffat) seems to be a logical explanation for the boys' inspiration and talent smile.gif

It is a bit lame to compare someone's mother with a hooker from GTA III wink.gif

To give your character certain skills and traits to give you a starting point, which character would you be most like, you wont interact with them or see them as characters,Elizabetta Torres isnt going to be your online mother giving you sh*t about the porno mags under your bed and your father Niko isnt going to be screaming "Ill CUT OFF YOUR f*ckING HEAD" when you run up the electricity bill.

I'm still confused about this and not sure if it will work this way, they should be more clear on what they really mean.

Otherwise I would choose Phil Bell and Kate.

Its still unclear and it could be what your suggesting but I thought for standard it would just be some generic style parents with different ethnicities and looks and that claude niko and misty were the only classics returning for CE

Wow, R* sure are bad with words. They always complicate things.
Does this mean that all 3 of these people are parents, or does it mean that we can be Niko, but we can't be Claude/Misty because they are parents (so we can only look similar to them)? SO CONFUSING!!!

I will make my character look as much like the Claude parent as possible. Same clothes, even.

Really don't see why they made a barrier between our direct customization of our characters look. Unless the parents will be in the game and we can kill them, I don't really see a point.

It's just a way they felt they can shoehorn characters from the previous games in there, because otherwise it is a complete waste of time, unless I can pick Bruce Banner (the Hulk) as my dad, it's a complete waste of time.

Probably because they couldn't do a full character customization system for some reason, but didn't want people to run around just being the same 10 heads again like in GTA IV?

Letting you pick 2 characters, and then your character's face morphing by using more or less of the character's assets that you have chosen is a genius way to handle it. That way everyone can look different for the most part, but not having to invest to much into making a full customization system.

The problem with character customization in games and why GTA has been avoiding it in the HD games is that it's hard to let people make their characters look exactly how they want, and still make the characters look "real", or at least not like plastic or silly putty.

Just look at games with full customization like Saints Row or Fallout 3. Those models look like toys.

I don't think they would have three past GTA characters, then have a load of generic racial models to act as parents. I think all the parents will be stars of past GTAs and possibly other R* franchises.

For parents I'd go Gerald McReary & Gracie Ancelotti.

Ok seems Dan and Sam had really interesting parents themselves:

On Walter Houser, father of Sam and Dan:

The DNA of Rockstar traces to Mr. Houser, a British-born pop-culture aficionado. He remains close to his parents and to his brother Dan. Their father, Walter, is a lawyer who was part-owner of a well-known London nightclub, Ronnie Scottís, where young Sam met jazz legends. When trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie asked the boy what he wanted to be when he grew up, Mr. Houser says he replied, ďa bank robber!Ē

(source)

On Geraldine Moffat, mother of the boys:

The actress with him in this photo is the very striking Geraldine Moffat; she plays the gangster lynchpin's hangaround/moll, driving a Sunbeam Alpine very fast while drunk and wearing lots of very skimpy outfits. Excellent!

It becomes clear its a genetic thing with those two atleast. Looks like they have had nice parents smile.gif

Skyrim had a great character customisation. You could make the NPCs - I even made one look like my ex:
