ok guys now im replaying gta 4 for the hundreth time and im at gravellis missions and i dont know if im reading to much into it but do you think jon had a bigger role in the beta? he only has 3 missions. and i was looking at his artwork and he has a suit on but he dosent where it ingame so i was thinking originaly you worked for him before he went in the hospital. plus i always thought it would be cool if there was a mission were the russians come to kill jon and you escort him out on a wheelchair. and then drive him to another hospital. i dont know but watchng his cutsceens makes me wish there was more work from him. to bad he died. may he rest in peace what did you guys think about him? he only had 3 missions but i thought he was cool. share your thoughts and ideas on him. its just a shame his appearence was so brief.

He was badass alright. 80 years as a career criminal, boss of a 5 families family for around 50 and he dies of natural causes before the FIB could prosecute him. He won.

He reminded of Uncle Jr Soprano if he was more sick.

Anyway I don't think he was supposed to play a bigger role. Maybe a small cameo earlier in the game before he got sick.

I don't imagine Gravelli having a bigger role in beta. He was a major mob figure, he was behind the scenes and had more power this way.

Niko seems much lower-rank than most GTA protagonists. I mean, other protagonists would have received missions from the leaders of the big gangs of the city, while Niko had to receive missions from the decadent Irish mob and the Pegorinos. Other protagonists (Claude would be an exception) end up becoming big names by the end of the game, Niko not so much. Receiving missions from Gravelli was the highest Niko ever reached, so I can't see it lasting for too much.

I have read that Jon Gravelli was in the Schotler Medical Centre for 3 years, i'm surprised he managed to survive all of the shootouts in there.

Well, I remember seeing Gravelli's concept artwork, and you're right, he was wearing a suit and not hospitalized. That makes me wonder that maybe in the Beta, very early on, he might have been a bigger role as an active mob boss instead of the bed ridden Gravelli that we saw in the finished product. Either way the dude was a total badass, as it was implied that he gave himself this illness to delay prosecution and to go out before being thrown in jail which he was successful in doing.

I don't think Don Gravelli was scheduled to have a bigger role and if you make this judgement on his artwork with an elegant suit, it isn't enough because some artwork touch on things, people that aren't seen during the game, or these types of artworks are just a bit of imaginative work. Also Gravelli was an important but a short-time connection to Darko Brevic. He was a cool character, a real mafia men who have both brains and a mind that relies on violence when it's necessary and that explains why he is the biggest mob leader of The Commission. So I find it unnecessary for Niko to do more missions for Gravelli as he was a short-time connection for him, I think it was enough to do three or maybe four missions for him. Although these mission were cool, I would except to see cooler missions.

And I don't think, in Beta or in whatever, Niko was scheduled to be working for Jon before he gets hospitalized because it's stated that Jon was serving at the hospital for a long time (I guess it was 3 years or something like that), also you can get it from the fact that Jon was suffering a slow but a serious disease, so you can predict Jon was serving for a long time, likely certainly before Niko came to Liberty City (the beginning of the story), at least a few years ago before GTA IV storyline starts.

When Niko goes into the hospital in Schotler and starts shooting at everyone.

He was one of the few characters to die of natural causes.
