I don't know if this is old news or not, but I recently read about this on a swedish newspaper. It says that an 8-year old boy in USA, shot his 87-year old caretaker in the head, right after playing GTA IV. It feels sickening that people still are blaming violent video-games. The article mentioned absolutly nothing about how the 8-year could even get hold of the gun. Some people should really learn how to hide their guns. Also, the kid lived in a trailer park, I can imagine those places being quite crime infested.

I played GTA 2 when I was about 8 years old and I didn't shoot people in the head. There must've been something wrong with this kid and the gun should've been better hidden. GTA is the least thing to blame here, I would rather blame poor living conditions and and gun control.

Anyone else feel sick about GTA always being the scape goat when something happens?

Video games are a convienent scapegoat. Instead of looking at real social issues like availablility of firearms and weapons

But Grand Theft auto should be R18, 14 year old kids shouldn't be allowed to play them. Not even with Mommy's permission at Walmart.

People are always trying to blame something else rather than themselves.. It's idiotic.

lol you dumbsh*t violent videogames don't exactly help.

GTA fans won't admit it, but it isn't a good game for society to play. It's addicting though.

1). A 8 year old shouldn't have GTA IV.
2). A 8 year old shouldn't have access to a gun or even know there's a gun around him.
3). sh*t parenting, I hope his parents get some punishment.

A lot of shootings, especially school shootings do happen in the USA though. wink.gif

EDIT: The Norway attacks was very much a political thing too, can't really compare it to no motive murders and school shootings. Just sayin'.

Like many others I played GTA a lot when I was 14 - 15. Didn't make me a criminal in real life, neither today.

But I admit not every teenager should be allowed to play it. And the rating should be respected.. but can't do much about it, can they.

I was talking about GTA. US always blame GTA for being too violent and it causes crimes to happen...but this doesn't seem to be the case with Europe.

GTA has nothing to do with this. Dumb ass incompetent parents let the kid get his hands on a gun, there's the real problem. That, and maybe the kid was just off the walls insane or otherwise mentaly f*cked to want to kill his grandfather.

saying the problem is the USA is as short sighted as the article blaming GTA. Everyone I know that has ever played GTA had guns in the house. Not one of them ever shot someone. Its an individual case that had many factors leading up to an unfortunate death. For that matter we don't even know the whole truth of what happened. Anyway just a flat out ignorant statement.

Why don't people understand that a country as large as the US has a much greater chance of these occurrences simply because of the size of the population. And the whole world is all too ready to report about the crazy crap that goes on in the US.

And Julius Gaius Ceaser played GTA too or what?... Video games are not responsible for this murder.
Making his self a autocrat or just killing someone is more or less natrue, because it does happend often enough
in the animal world too, also between same species
