I've encountered another problem while playing..

Whenever I commit a crime and get a wanted level, and a police officer on a motorcycle arrives and gets off his bike, I immediately crash. I do not know if this happens with officers in actual cars too or not, but it's obviously very annoying and renders the game pretty much unplayable storyline-wise.

At first I thought this was a problem with the SCRIPT sound file as I once crashed (with a motorcycle cop again) as the police scanner was reporting the crime, but it turns out it must be something to do with actions or just the cops in general.

If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it. And I am running a legitimate version of the game from a CD, I'm not sure what version I have (or how to find out, either.)

*Update*: I tried running over a cop, didn't crash. I lost that wanted level then tried crashing into a police car, again, no crash, so this must be centered around the motorcycle cops..

Here are my specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
Intel i3-2120 @ 3.30GHz
4 GB RAM
DirectX 11
AMD Radeon HD 7700
Realtek HD Audio

Do you have any mods installed?

Try to reinstall the game. It might fix your problem.

Okay, worth a shot.

Reinstalling it seemed to fix it, so thanks!

It's a DVD, and if you have the Second Edition it will say so on the Box, and Disc.
And, on the lower right of the menu screen.
First edition won't have any notice, other than the menu screen.
From other's statements you can't rely on the README for correct version ID.

Game is installed with ADMIN Privileges to the C:/ drive?
Running with Admin Privileges?
Tried using modes? (XP, or Win98 if mouse problems occur.) Using a mode might move the save game location.

Okay, in the Readme it says it is version 1, I am running with admin privileges, and I did try running in XP before I just reinstalled it, which fixed it. Thanks though!
