Hey guys! I'm new to the forums!

I need some help regarding the "Graphics" settings in GTA IV. As we all know, GTA 4 is incredibly bad ported to the PC, so I need to configure it good on my comp.

SYSTEM SPECS: Intel Core i3-2100 CPU @ 3.10GHz
Nvidia Geforce GT 430 (aprox. total memory: 2761 MB)
4GB RAM
I run on Win7

Thanks alot for reading! biggrin.gif

Update to patch 1.0.7.0 and use autoconfigure in the graphics settings. Tweak it from there.

I have somewhat similar specs.

If you want high quality picture and video, and you don't mind sacrificing a little performance, then configure like this:

Screen resolution: maximum
Aspect Ratio: 16:10
Texture Quality: High
Water Qualit: High
Reflection Resolution/Quality: High
Shadow Quality: High
Night Shadows: High
Texture Filter: Anisotropic 8x
View Distance; 50
Detail Distance: 50
VSync: On
Definition: it's motion blur, doesn't impact performance much, you can also toggle it on/off while playing the game by pressing P

This will take 774 MB of your total video memory and performance isn't that bad.

(Setting texture, reflection, water and shadows equally is preferable because if you set texture low and shadows high or reflection low and texture high or any combination - it f*cks up the game visually.)

However, if you prefer performance and don't mind sacrificing some video quality, configure like this:

Screen resolution: maximum
Aspect Ratio: 16:10
Texture Quality: Medium
Water Qualit: Medium
Reflection Resolution/Quality: Medium
Shadow Quality: Medium
Night Shadows: Medium
Texture Filter: Anisotropic 16x
View Distance; 50
Detail Distance: 50
VSync: On

This will take about 400 or 500 MB of video memory.

I'd recommend leaving brightness, contrast and saturation to default under Display. For too much brightness or contrast makes the game look strange and it might get painful to eyes.

If you set everything to minimum, then game will look like sh*t, you can't even properly see buildings or the amazing detail of the city.

For extra FPS you can try a free program called Razer Game Booster.

Well, I hope it helps you.

Do you mean, turn night shadows off? I agree with that. No shadows at all looks awful, imo.
