I been playing skyrim a lot lately. The level of detail out in the countryside and in general is very high.
Bethesda and Rockstar are the best at open world games.
Can we expect the same level of detail from GTA V?

Skyrim looks beautiful on consoles. It looks far better on the PC but the thing is Skyrim's vanilla version does not really have much complex things going on. I don't think you should compare two.

Skyrims graphics aren't as good as they could be due to the sheer size of the game, graphicswise and general level of detail GTA wins but contentwise Skyrim wins.

Apples and Oranges.

One is a Fantasy RPG, while the other game is a modern Action Sandbox game.

The open world is about the only thing you can compare, since GTAV isn't out yet my guess would be that Bethesda's world is more alive and contains more detail.

Edit for people saying all you can do is kill..

Main, Side and Miscelanious Quests. (Infinite Radiant quests)
Join a guild
Random Events
Harvest Materials for crafting
Explore Dungeons
Find little towns and villages, help them, Barter etc.

Skyrim is literaly limitless, everything is included that the most RP heavy GTA player wants... it is just a different genre and doesn't appeal to everyone.

Well I'm really only comparing graphics and the nature. Cause I played skyrim on ps3 first.
A while back I got it for pc and it blew my mind compared to the ps3 version, in terms of looks

There are 273 quests, along with all the caves to explore and the DLCs. Along with the never ending Radian Quest System, but I admit they do get repetitive after a while.

GTA V won't require tons of mods to be good.

You can have infinite quests and 1000000 caves to explore, it's all for nothing if the only thing you can do with them is kill things.

This is where GTA V will spank Skyrims behind, hard - with a bat - ouch!

SKYRIM = Kill things

GTA V = Kill things
Pool
Jet skiing
Hunting
Tennis
Golf
Base jumping
Heists
Yoga
Mountain biking
Triathlons
Car race
Plus much, much more....

I see what he is saying.. I think.. Open worlds available for free roam are scarce in games. yeah we can think RDR for blaine county.. But what aspects of wild life freeroaming might GTAV have in common with Skyrim? Idk haha, I just agree that no other game co comes close to free roam worlds Bethesda and Rockstar create.

Another fun fact: Skyrim is only 4gigs to completely download to your Xbox.. GTAV will be around 16 gigs.. I know both use different engines and compression or whatever.. and GTAV is going to "dwarf" it.. but damn that still is something..

some said : skyrim is too much copy paste. especially dugeons and some interior.
me : idk , still at greybeard quest - finishing side quest first but... Skyrim sure is detailed than Oblivion n feel a lot more lively. err , skyrim has dogs!

but if you look at the sky (in TES:V); theres only one type of clouds , but what i read in some article . that GTA:V has many type of clouds. so - gta V already win in something.

We can't say anything yet, until we get the game to try for ourselves...
I think comparing games with GTA V in this state till Sept 17th is pointless ><

Changed your post , you made it sound too good so I have made some accurate corrections smile.gif

See my previous post on what makes an open world so much more varied.

That could be said for GTA too man. Every single game had way too many "Drive here shoot this" or "Drive here chase this then shoot this" missions.

Also Skyrim on PC with mods is f*cking beautiful

yeah and most of the quests are to kill or explore something...it gets repettitive ,not to mention that you can't really compare those two games...at all!

Both offer totally different things, I cant compare. I never really played Skyrim as much as I could have or wanted to for some reason, but I really was impressed by that game.

I dont know how can i compare the two.

On the Xbox I thought Skyrim didn't look too great. I think that even Red Dead Redemption was better looking and that is a 3 year old game.

Personally from what I have seen I think GTA5 will be better graphically than Skyrim.

People in here seem to be missing the point anyway, me included.

He's discussing the level of detail, now comparing skyrim to any GTA's I'd say that skyrim takes the cake.

Think about it detail wise: the amount of items that are hand placed through every single dungeon, and around the countryside, the concealed dungeon entrances etc.

Yeah it is apples and oranges as skyrim was designed to be explored on foot from a first person perspective rather than speeding a car through it all, and we can't compare it to V yet but I doubt that V will be more immersive than skyrim. Not dissing V (before I get jumped on), just discussing it along the terms that OP put it in. V will still be more fun wink.gif

Well my intention with this topic was to compare the level of detail regarding the nature. NOT gameplay, missions or side activities.
Just comparing the looks of the games

Edit: Stewlil gets it

Dude I was talking about the past GTA's main missions, not minigames from V.

Think about what I said next time, before deciding to be a dick.

Ditto

Both are very different sort of games.

Detail in the game, if you look at the standard version of Skyrim a hell a lot of the textures are quite low quality, but the world is massive and will take you awhile to get to places if you avoid using fast travel or horses (yay for autowalk) As soon as mods get involved especially texture ones, it looks completely different.

Also seem when compared about the skills/ perks you get as well.

Yea Skyrim is a bit overrated, but at least on PC mods and complete conversions with new stories and everything else add so much to the game.

Also many other series are overrated as well.

I think Skyrim is to GTA IV what Oblivion is to GTA III:San Andreas.

The Next Elder Scrolls game is going to be the GTA V of Elder Scrolls.
