Recently, a lot of trolls post messages with porn, perversion, nazi-pictures etc to the threads in this section of forum.

I suggest make a temporary prohibition to post pictures (until a certain number of messages) for newly users.

I hope that my proposal will be accepted. Thank you for your attention.

Good and bad idea.

Good - Might stop this/ almost deffinalty will

Bad - User might sign up as he wants to upload a mod he has been working on, he only wants to upload the mod and write about it, but that would stop him, he would be upset. His time is wasted

That's what I've been thinking, as MMD-stueycow pointed out. Still, a message for all who registered telling them that their posting privileges are limited would work, and that they can request for an exemption if they signed up to announce and/or post screenshots of mods.

The report system works well enough in my opinion, you can report those topics and whichever Moderator or Admin is online can see to the issue immediately. Although, this can be a bit of a pain if none of them are online, they will get to eventually, just ignore the topics and don't reply, feeding the troll will only make it worse.

I'm not sure about individual users (e.g I can view it but you can't) but you can stop certain groups from viewing (e.g Members can't but Moderators/Administrators can).

What if the pictures have to be approved by a mod before they're able to be viewed in a thread? Like, a new guy can make a thread and post a picture. After that, you can see the thread, but you can't see the picture until a mod approves it or something.

The issue is, if say 200 users sign up and post in one day, the mods have a lot of work to do and they have a life to live and jobs to do rather than sitting at a forum allowing images.

Yeah, post/topic/member approval will be far too big of a job.

For images, you are able to disable images, signatures and avatars in your own board settings (My Controls > Board Settings > Check Yes/No for the options) if you want to make sure you don't see any screenshots or anything. It just replaces them with a link.

Not a big job at all, do you know anything about modifying IPB? Didn't think so, literally can be done in less then 10 mins for a post limit feature.

I don't think that was what Kirsty was referring to. I believe she was talking about the load that having to manually approve everything would put on the moderating team.

Except that the Admin CP is broken to pieces due to the number of hacks that have been applied to the software over the years, so making any changes may not be as simple as you make it out to be.

Furthermore, I'm pretty sure Kirsty was referring to the fact that having to approve every single post made by a new member would be far too big of a job and quite frankly, she is correct in that regard. There are more legitimate topics and posts then there are not; and it would be way too time consuming to have to approve every single post that is made on this forum, particularly in a section that is as busy as the V forum.

Ahh yes I see what your saying, well seems like it's time for a overhaul on the system that could be a problem and vulnerable for exploit. And yes Kristy is right would be very time consuming for that method.

The odd picture you may see in the V forum etc is nothing compared to the rubbish we bin.
Its really no big deal when you take into consideration the size of the forum and the traffic/posts. We probably have the most active staff for a long time so just report the topics and move on.
