My home town, Frankston, is nationally known for being a dump.
It's really not as bad as its made out to be though, it was much worse when I was growing up than it is now. Now it has a nice beach and a decent Main Street with movie theatres, cafés etc.

My City is Sheffield and we're mostly known for making that bomb ass Steel, we were the f*cking Heisenberg of Steel making. Hence the name 'Steel City'. Unfortunately the Industrial Revolution is over and we're a city looking for a purpose. </3

We also made Sean Bean and we're home to the World Snooker Championship.

Clydebank is mostly known for it's shipbuilding history:

I live in Hull currently, which is in the UK in case you didn't know. And there's no reason you should know, cos it's a nothingness of a place and it's had f*ck all of an impact on the world.

But William Wilberforce (one of the main guys behind abolishing slavery) was from here. The HMS Bounty was built here. It's about the 10th biggest city in England, I think. It's about that anyways, and I really can't be bothered to look it up to find out it's exact place.

It's basically a sh*thole now. High deprivation and poverty levels. At one point it had a lot of industry and fishing crap. Not anymore though. It was also the 2nd most bombed UK city after London, during WWII. Not necessarily because it was the 2nd most important, but it was easily reachable so I guess the Nazi's took pleasure in bombing the sh*t out of it.

So I've already mentioned Seether... But here's some other facts about Pretoria:

I guess the city is famous for it's streets lined with Jacaranda trees. That's why Pretoria is known as the Jacaranda city. In spring or early summer, they look like this:

Also, Pretoria is home to the second largest amount of embassies in the world, second only to Washington DC...

pretty boring huh confused.gif can't think of anything else...

The movie "Henry - Portrait of a Serial Killer" is based on a guy that lived 'round here.

Yep, he actually had a pit where he kept the women chained up.

We are also home to the longest, straightest street in an American urban city.

Marijuana was first used as a consumable by the early American settlers here in Philadelphia.

Pine Bush is considered the UFo capital of the US. Back in the 80s and 90s, it was almost a weekly occurrence apparently.

A student brought a replica gun to the high school and it was a national controversy.

We have the largest wooden structure in the world.

John Stamos was tried for *insert crime here* at our courthouse. (I don't know what he did)

Both Mr. Bush and Mr. Obama came here to make speeches.

Scotland is famous for its fresh water lochs (lakes) – there are over 600 square miles of them. One of the most famous is Loch Ness where a mysterious monster is said to lurk in the depths of the water.

It is also famous for its clans, kilts, medieval castles, as well as poetry and songs of Robert Burns.

Theatre lovers from around the world come to Edinburgh for its famous theatres festival.

And Finally, the creators of GTA reside there. biggrin.gif

lol the amount of people posting crap about their town, but then not naming where they live. Doesn't it sort of defeat the point of posting the info in the first place.
