Look at these topics that were on the GTA V board this morning. Specifically the first post date and the most recent post.

In every one of these topics they were started several years ago and sat on the board for years until someone decided to be cute and bump them back up. Most of them are from 2008 when we knew nothing about GTA V.

This could be solved by simply locking outdated topics after 90 days of inactivity. Obviously you could make an exception or allow topics to be made reactive with mod approval.

Most message boards do this and it works great.

People are allowed to bump topics if they have something good to add to it. You have only provided bad examples of topics to bump. Locking topics due to inactivity isn't the best of ideas since there are good topics as well which would be locked for no proper reason if this feature were to be implemented. What would happen if one wanted to update the topic or add something that would come in handy? They would have to contact moderators to unlock the topic which would be too much of a hassle. I could show examples but I don't see the point really.

Now if you see topics that need to be taken care of just hit the 'Report' button. Right now you'll see every single topic you have linked has been either locked or binned. icon14.gif

Remember, these topics might not be dealt with as soon as they are reported because the moderators have lives too, but majority of reports are dealt with in less than 24 hours.

Adding to what shoumic said, the number of old topics that are bumped on a daily basis is very less. It's not a nuisance. Most of these topics get reported and they are dealt with in a timely manner.
