The 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (22nd MEU) is one of seven Marine Expeditionary Units currently in existence in the United States Marine Corps. The Marine Expeditionary Unit is a Marine Air Ground Task Force with a strength of about 2,200 personnel. They are currently based out of Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and fall under the command of the II Marine Expeditionary Force. The 22nd MEU holds the distinction of being the most decorated of the Marine Corps' seven MEUs.
22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit is a MILSIM Organization(Clan), that operates on both GTA IV, and 'The Lost & The Damned DLC'. Our team operates in Battle's, War's, Operations, etc. As a MILSIM representing an MEU, our job in Liberty City is to help maintain peace in certain area's, whether that be with assisting our "Allie's", or just setting up certain AO's. The Marine's of 22nd MEU train day in, and day out, to be the best at what they do.
The MEU consists of four basic elements:
Command Element (CE) - Serves as the headquarters for the entire unit and allows a single command to exercise control over all ground, aviation and combat service support forces.
In the United States Marine Corps, the command element or CE is the command and control force of a Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF). It provides C3I for the MAGTF.
1st Marine Expeditionary Unit Headquarters Group "Godfather Actual" - The main Command Group of 22nd MEU. Oversee's all Operation's, and Control's all Intelligence Operations.
Ground Combat Element (GCE) - Built around a Marine infantry battalion, the GCE is reinforced with tanks, artillery, amphibious vehicles, engineers and reconnaissance assets.
2nd Battalion 5th Marines (2/5) is an infantry battalion in the United States Marine Corps consisting of approximately 800 Marines and Sailors. They are based out of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California and fall under the command of the 5th Marine Regiment and the 1st Marine Division. The battalion has seen combat in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Gulf War and has deployed many times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the current War on Terror.
2/5 is the most highly decorated battalion in the Marine Corps and their motto, "Retreat, Hell!", comes from the French trenches of World War I, when a Marine officer named Lloyd W. Williams was ordered to retreat and replied, "Retreat? Hell, we just got here!"
4th Tank Battalion (4th Tanks) is an armored battalion of the United States Marine Corps reserve. Their primary weapon system is the M1A1 Abrams main battle tank and they are part of the 4th Marine Division and Marine Forces Reserve. The unit headquarters is at the Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Center San Diego, California but other units in the battalion are located throughout the United States. With six lettered companies, 4th Tank Battalion is the largest Marine tank battalion.
Aviation Combat Element (ACE) - Consists of a composite medium tiltrotor (MV-22B Osprey) squadron containing transport aviation assets of various models and capabilities, attack helicopters and jets, air defense teams and all necessary ground support assets.
The 1st Marine Aircraft Wing is an aviation unit of the United States Marine Corps that serves as the Aviation Combat Element of the III Marine Expeditionary Force. The wing is headquartered at Camp Foster on the island of Okinawa, Japan. Activated in 1940, the wing has seen heavy combat operations during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
Logistics Combat Element (LCE) - Provides the MEU with mission-essential support such as medical/dental assistance, motor transport, supply, equipment maintenance and landing is the mission of the LCE.
Our Mission - Provide the GTA Community with a forward-deployed, amphibious force-in-readiness capable of executing mission across the full spectrum of combat and military operations other than war.
Our Marine's go through multiple stage's in our Training Program.
Orientation - This stage is the introduction stage, where all of our recruit's are introduced to their commanding staff, and the rule's, along with any other basics they need to learn.
MCMAP - The motto of the Marine Corps Martial Arts program is "One Mind. Any Weapon." Recruits must learn how to combine unarmed techniques from various martial arts with armed techniques designed for hand-to-hand combat. More than just self-defense training, MCMAP fuses together mental and character building with combat disciplines. Recruits also study martial arts culture and history and Marine Corps values.
Grass week - "Every Marine is a rifleman, but there's a difference between pulling a trigger and being a rifleman." This stage is teaching recruit's how to properly use their rifle's, and fire them effectively in combat.
Day Movement - During Day Movement exercises, recruits learn to stay together in simulated, tactical scenarios and ensure the safety of the Marines to their left and their right. Over the deafening noise of simulated weapons fire, recruits communicate with hand signals as they navigate their way over walls and under barbed wire. Combat-experienced Drill Instructors show recruits how to respond to evolving situations on the battlefield and complete the mission together.
Our AO's consist of just two major area's.
The Platypuss - (USS NightStalker) is our main Forward Launch Base(FWB). Most of our Marine's are stationed on this vessel, and are on standby 24/7.
Port Tudor - The 22nd MEU uses Port Tudor as a Main Ground Combat Command Zone. Just like the USS Nightstalker, this area has Marine's on standby 24/7. But Port Tudor is also used to bring in shipment's from other island's for supply's, or other things.
