Just curious what people's opinions are in regards to the various types of criminal organizations. The GTA series has covered all three archetypes and I am wondering which culture people like the most. Not to condone real world criminal activity, but within the realm of movies/TV/gaming entertainment, which type of criminal enterprise do you most enjoy.

Street/Prison gangs - Bloods, Crips, Gangster Disciples, Black Mafia Family, etc. (Grove Street Families & Ballas - GTA SA)

Outlaw Motorcycle Clubs - Hell's Angels, Warlocks, Mongols, etc. (The Lost & Damned GTAIV)

Mafia/Mob - Italian Mafia, Colombian Cartel, etc. (GTA3)

Other - White collar crime, con men, crooked cops/doctors, etc.

Most people will say the mafia of course, but for me, all of them appeal to me in the same way in movies and games.

Admittedly though, I'm getting kind of tired of the Italian mafia. It's been done to death now.

Good call, I didnt think to include Yakuza...I guess you could lump them in with mafia? They are sort of like Japan's answer to the Italian mafia, you could say.

I like all three too, although after watching all 5 seasons of Sons of Anarchy I have a new found respect for the world of outlaw MCs. Yeah it's a fictional TV show, but it's pretty damn good.

All of them appeal to me, any GTA game with predominantly one type of criminal organization would be very boring to me. Thankfully, no GTA game has ever done things that way. That is one of the things I love about GTA - the many different gangs, mafias, mobs, etc. It just makes it even more exciting.

I enjoy all 3 in games/tv/movies. But I've never loved the mafia in a GTA game. In terms of GTA, id say street gangs and motorcycle gangs.

Good point, always a good thing to have some variety... This is a big reason why Im so hyped for GTAV, each of the three protags look like they come from very different backgrounds.

I think People have been misinformed about Criminal Organizations as a hole. Most especially on this forum dont understand that they all have a organized structure. People will look at the pics of street gangs and fail to realize that the leader of the gang do not dress like newbies in the gang nor do they hang on the corner. The leaders of all of these organization dress up and like in the suburbs.

Always the mafia with me. Just more of a romanticism in the old mafia films than there is in street gangs in my opinion. That said, it all depends on the story. If they decide not to pepper it all with cliches they can pretty much have the same storyline with any of them.

I'd have to say the street gangs wih the mafia coming in at a close second because with street gangs, I find the fights more intense.

You missed two: cartel with military training and ties and the police/military.

Just had a police officer sentenced to 99 years.

Yeah, I personally liked the story in GTA SA better than any other GTA game. Even though it had some really far fetched twists (breaking into area 52 to get a jet pack??!!) I really loved the whole vibe of being a So Cal gangster in the 90s.

I may be in the minority here but I would love to see a future GTA game set in the 30s or 40s and focusing on the mob. Then again radio stations would be quite different...lol

Yeah I kinda lumped the Cartel in with the mafia...Similar kind of professional approach. But then again you could include things like the IRA, I just didnt want the poll to have that many choices.

Point taken, but the attitudes and mystique are quite a bit different. Mob seems to be so 70s with the hairdos and the fungul.

Street gangs have also infiltrated the Military. The FBI did a report of these Gangs in the military in 2011. There are also pics of the GD, Crips and Blood Graffiti in IRAQ

Man I am surprised by the lack of love for outlaw MCs. I guess nobody here watches SoA...great show to get you in the mood for some GTA, I would definitely recommend it. Actually one of the cast members is a real Hell's Angels member.

The Japanese Yakuza. Mainly because I don't like riding motorcycles (MC) or living in a lower-class neighborhood (street gangs).
