Other than GTA it's a hard pick, I'd pick:

Current Gen: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.
Last Gen: Halo: Combat Evolved, Half Life 2 (tie)
Nostalgia: Super Mario Bros.

Other than that aka Runner ups: Call of Duty 4, Far Cry 3, Age of Empires II etc.

GTA San Andreas.

This game dropped at the perfect time for me, when i was a huge gamer. And it was and still is, my best gaming experience to date. The map was huge, and there was a sh*t load to do, you could make it a completely personal experience and unique to anyone else. I still find it interesting loading up other peoples saves on the PC version, seeing what clothes people wear, their body size, their hairstyle, the cars in their garage. And it is different for every person.

Nothing has come close to the magic of San Andreas for me. Combine my PS2, Xbox and PC playing time on this game would reveal some crazy, crazy hours playtime. The only game that is coming close to my pre release San Andreas excitement is GTA V. I have a feeling V might very well be my new San Andreas.

Man I'm not gonna pick just 1, so here's my favorites (possibly in this order smile.gif So actually Skyrim lol)

- GTAV tounge.gif
- TESV: Skyrim (TES just gets bigger and better every time. I think VI will take place in Elsweyr. Deserts and Jungles = awesomeness!!)
- GTAIV
- TESIV: Oblivion (can't believe how beautiful this game looks, even today)
- Half-Life 2 (still the best fps imo)
- Mass Effect series
- Fallout 3 (this is possibly the game I've played the most, ever!)
- Dragon Age series
- Portal series
- GTA:SA (was once my favorite game)
- Prince of Persia series (I remember playin Sands of Time for the first time. It was one of my favorite gaming moments ever)

Same here. I've played GTA SA from 2006-early 2009; UNMODDED, and started heavily modding it afterwards.

Though GTA 4 got me VERY HYPED UP it didn't suck me in for that long. I've just played IV from 2009-2010 and then left it out afterwards.

The second thing that comes after GTA SA on my list is TBOGT. It seems to bring back the fun that I've missed from playing GTA SA.

Can we stop having lists. The title of the topic is favourite - not favourites.

In regards to the topic, I can't give my all time favourite. That doesn't mean I feel the need to list every game I love though.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. Played the sh*t out of it, on all difficulties. Also has my favorite character in video games ever: The Boss.

Red Dead Redemption. May have came out three years ago, but I still think about it constantly. One of the most sublime gaming experiences I've ever had. It kinda hinders my enjoyment of other games, slightly.

These also come close:
- The Last of Us
- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
- Grand Theft Auto IV
- Banjo-Tooie
- Bully
- Grim Fandango
- The Secret of Monkey Island
- Deadly Premonition
- Max Payne 3

PS1: V8E Vigilante. Dumped hours upon hours into it the past 7 years.
PS2: Gran Turismo 3. Same as above.
PS3: Saints Row 2. Only game I've ever replayed in this console generation aside from Heavy RAIN.

GTA 3. I know we're talking about all-time favorites but GTA 3 opened the door for me. I played heaps of games before it, but man was I in for a ride.

There is way too many to list, so I will list mostly current gen as well as a couple older ones that stand out but there will always be more, but the below are mostly ones that were basically perfect in every way with nothing wrong with them whatsoever.

Mirror's Edge
Rainbow Six: Vegas 1+2
Fallout 3 + New Vegas
Max Payne 1+2
SOCOM 1+2
Hitman (All games except the latest one)
Metal Gear Solid (All games not including 4 or Rising)
Die Hard Trilogy
Driver 1+2
Battlefield 2
Battlefield Bad Company 2

Much more but this is all that springs to mind at the moment.

How the hell did I forget Silent Hill 2?
Definitely better than Uncharted 2, my previous selection.
So much symbolism, the whole game blew me away. Never have I seen a game so disgusting and beautiful at the same time.
The controls are quite wonky these days however you can change them.
The graphics are still great today!
I love it so much that I bought the directors cut on PS2 which is expensive these days.
Don't buy the HD collection, it is sh*t.

My all time favorite game I have ever played would have to be Socom 2. That game was an absolute masterpiece that I spent nearly 2 years playing exclusively nearly every day. The only other game that comes close to the greatness of Socom 2 for me would be Battlefield 2: Modern Combat on the PS2. I haven't had nearly as much fun in any other game than I have in those two.
