Tomorrow I have my first driving exam. I hope I'll pass the 1st time. GTA has tought me well! biggrin.gif

But I am still kinda nervous.. Anyone on here ever had a driving exam? If so, how did you cope with it all?

Update: I didn't pass! panic.gif

Oh well, better luck next time. smile.gif

Well, today I had my last normal driving lesson. All went well. Even though it is just a normal ride, I am still nervous..

I just hope that won't cause me to fail. tounge.gif

That's the most likely thing that can cause you to fail. Just empty your mind and focus on what you have to do.

Edit: To actually prove my point, you can think of it this way. You don't have to be nervous every time you make a decision, why would you have to be nervous for this one? The only way you are going to pass is if you concentrate on what you have to do. Nervousness is just an ancient human mechanism that predates the evolved mind we have now and it's practically useless.

Well that shouldn't be too hard because my mind is usually empty.. notify.gif

I recently had mine. Just treat it like a normal driving lesson, take everything nice and easy, take your time and f*ck other drivers. The thing that nearly failed me was caring about other drivers trying to intimidate me by driving up my arse causing me to speed up; just concentrate on your own driving and relax. As intimidating as the examiner may be, he's only human. Chill out and enjoy it, good luck. icon14.gif

I was also nervous when I had to pass the exam. But I was really confident and I passed it with 96%. I think you should be good. Check your dead angles, do great stops, keep calm, it should be fine.

Check all of your mirrors frequently. They will dock you points if you don't. They will usually try to get you onto some one way streets too, so be careful of that and make sure to turn into the proper lane. Don't accelerate too fast either, they aren't too fond of that.

Why do people have this urge to share boring details from their lives with people who just don't give a sh*t?

Why do some people have the urge to give pointless comments?

I will have one at August. I'm still practicing at driving.

Just try to focus and follow driving rules.

It's what I am trying to do. In august eh? Well, it is during summer so maybe less busier roads?

It's easier than you think. My DMV we had to drive like a mile down the road, turn around and drive back to the DMV, then did the parallel parking deal. I was nervous as sh*t back then.. afterwards I aced it and she was like 'All you needed to do was turn the A/C on, son.' .. LOL It was like 85 degrees out and I had the windows up with no air blowing. It was like a sauna in that mofo, I was so focused on my hands at 10 and 2 or whatever.

But don't stress it man, just make sure you get the mirrors right, check your blinkers and stuff while the lady or man watches, put your hands at the right positions and drive on.. and at no point, no point.. do you try and run pedestrians over.

Perfect score. Easy stuff. Hardest part was parallel parking which i kind of f*cked up on but the instructor didn't take any points off for me

Ah...one day. I don't feel the need to get driver licence at the moment, cause I have no car and ... nowhere to go. However, I wish you good luck, I already experienced a lot of stressful situations so I can understand you. You shouldn't worry that much though.

I don't know where you live and how the driving tests work, but if you get lucky like me, you won't have to do anything. When I took mine, all I had to do were the basics, signal while turning, instructor made me reverse in a straight line for 90 ft. then a 3 point turn, then that was about it. He never had me parallel park, which is the hardest and was the one thing i was nervous about.

Just relax and focus on driving. Studying road rules helps.

Southern Ontario. I have to put Southern because Northern is like a whole new planet. tounge2.gif

Hm. Never knew the Ontario Government privatized that. Here in Nova Scotia it's still government run.

Stay within the speed limit of certain roads/streets. Trust me, you shouldn't be going over the speed limit at all. On my driving test I literally was at a constant 75 in 65 mph and at one point 80. I should have gotten a big ticket but thankfully there was no police around at the time.

I still got my permit though, but yeah, stay ON speed limit. Other than that there's nothing else to really say except that you shouldn't be worried. Trust me, no one - including you - should NEVER drive if they are a nervous wreck. You can, and most likely will, f*ck up.

C'yeah, driving is a breeze. Its easy. Stay calm, follow the rules of the road and boom, exam passed, have a nice day.

I was very nervous when I done mine. Passed it first try and the parallel park I done was the best I'll ever do lol.

Good luck regardless.

You should drive like they did in the GTA V demo! Think of yourself as Franklin and make nearly impossible maneuvers! lol.gif

Good luck. Don't dwell on it, just complete each step as it arises. I just did my pilot's licence test and I was sh*tting bricks for that. I don't think I'll be nervous for my car licence test. Its not possible, I've used up all my 'nervous units' tounge.gif .
