That's a LOT of GTA...

How big relative to IV?

IV on console is 7 GB.

The only issue I have with Xbox is that you have to buy harddrives from Microsoft for them, if they were like the ps3 I'd buy a ssd for it and run that game so fast.

I find it funny how everybody is acting like installing games to the hard drive is new news. What people actually don't see is its not like LA Noire for example how it came with two or three discs. Yeah u could install each disc to the hard drive but u still had to SWAP out ur disc to play certain cases. Why don't people see that Rockstar is making it so u don't have to disc swap this time around. This is indeed new news to anyone because this has never been done before having a mandatory disc install and then having a second disc to play the actual game. Does nobody see the awesomeness in this? I mean what if they made it like LA noire where ur mid game and it asks u to swap to disc two or to play multiplayer?

I don't get it. What does he mean by, "It will not have to spin,"?

when you install a game on your xbox you still have to have the disc in to play it, but it wont spin, the only benefit you get from it is less noise because its not spinning

Holymother of God! I did not know this!

I'm going to do this. Every less noise is better! smile.gif

Really? Cool… I'm wondering if this is possible on the PS3 too

Xbox 360 only. PS3 cant do full installs of games. smile.gif

the PS3 doesn't need to full installs, I can play any of my disc based games and it sounds the exact same as any of my digital games.

sure, but its still spinning. and thats wear and tear on the optical drive, which is the most fickle part of both consoles.

This is great for Xbox users as the console doesnt have to read anything from the disc while you play hours on end!

Exactly. The real benefit to installing games on 360 isn't "less noise," it's WAY less wear and tear on the disc drive. If you always install your games, the only way your drive will ever go bad is if it was defective at the factory.

I thought this was the first time too, but apparently FFXI did the same thing on 360 years ago. i.e. Mandatory install but no disc swapping.

Wow well I guess I never played any final fantasies on xbox. Nevertheless to me it's bigger news not needing to disc swap compared to knowing about installing games on the hard drive. Wouldn't that just suck if half way threw the game it gives u a "welcome to Los Santos" screen while it waits for u to pop in disc two vice city style lol.

I'm not sure, but you can have two 16gb flash drives plugged into your xbox at once. You may want to get a 32gb flash drive just in case though.

Just checked on the PSN store and GTA IV in total is 10.3 GB to download. R* in that
email says GTA V is roughly 15 GB in total content. Pretty significant. A lot of stuff can go into
5 GB. We saw in the gameplay video>>> there is so much stuff to do in V it's nuts.

Halo 4 did the same exact thing.

Wait a minute, what does this mean for PS3 users? I want to be able to not have to use the damn optical drive, its less stress on it and prolongs the life of the console as a whole. Not to mention less power being used the better.

So technically

8GB for PS3

15GB for 360 with no disc drive usage

Aww come on!!! Im going to do some quick research on this matter.

It's going to be about 15 GB worth of downloading to the hard drive of the PS3 if you buy it
off the PSN Store. 8 GB is the install if you have the disc and the rest would run off the disc itself.

Hmm... I remember posting before about how many GB it would be in total and it seemed that I was correct. I said it would be around 13-17GB

Well I just bought a 16gb flash drive for this game & I'm not buying another one. I'm perfectly happy with the disc spinning, although this game will probably put my 360 in the grave eventually. You know, because I'm going to play the sh*t out of it. Anyway, I'll still have my PS3 to fall back on.

The possiblity of GTA 5 killing game consoles is slim, but to be on the safe side I bought a 32gb flash drive. I want my xbox around as long as possible because this game is not coming out for next-gen. turn.gif

Last week I shot mouthoff an email simply asking if we will be able to install disc 2 as well. I figured it would be obvious since the 360 lets you install games 100%, but anything thats confirmed is good info these days. they got back to me today.

I'm confused,
I had GTA IV on PC and it was 14 GB but for the console versions of GTA IV I've hear anything from 4-8 gigs so if GTA V on console is 15 GB how big will it be on PC and why was GTA IV on PC so huge compared to their console counterparts?

That's a LOT of GTA...

How big relative to IV?

Grand Theft Auto IV - Xbox 360
6.4 GB (NTSC)
6.6 GB (PAL)

Source: GTAIV Game Install Size

It should be noted that it was much bigger on PC, about 13 GB.

That is some good info overall though for 360 owners with the larger hard drives. And people always say that R* never give new info in MouthOff emails. rolleyes.gif

Anybody know why the PAL version has up to 200mb more than the NTSC version? Could be Languages data?
