Didn't anyone actually know this? As with any xbox 360 games you can install the play disc, and only use the disc to launch the game.
You didn't have to ask Rockstar for this wink.gif

Wow that's good news, I have an old fat elite 360 though so with or without the disc spinning up my xbox sounds like an airport terminal tounge.gif

This is good news thanks op!

I was planning on installing both discs anyway, mainly for how much quieter it is when playing from hard drive I install all my games as I have an old style elite so makes a massive difference.

I thought it was a 8 gig mandatory install? what are these other 7 gigs?

The second disc, you can install or just run it from disc.

Personally with the 360's habit of marking discs, installing the second "play" disc is better.

well I only have a 12 gig hard drive. What am I going to do? use a usb? that might cause performance issues

Upgrade to a larger HDD or just install the first disc (8gb) and play from the second disc.

Same here.

Quieter and it also protects the discs.

again GREAT news because 360 is too noisy when dvd works. my only concern is if the usb is fast enough for this kind of use.

USB is faster than the DVD, in fact, the DVD is the slowest one: DVD < USB (in the xbox (2.0)) < HDD (sata)

Not new but....... http://www.play.com/...0130710111540:s

You're gonna be hard pushed to get a brand new one I think. I've searched all the places I have bought from in the past and none of them do brand new now. I would also avoid ebay due to the fakes.

You could try: http://www.tmart.com...60_p113449.html or http://www.ps3xbox36...roduct-125.html not sure if they're second hand or not though.

But on PS3 there's only the 8GB option? Or there's also this 8GB + 15GB option? Cuz I have 165GB free...

PS3 Cannot do 100% installs of games like Xbox 360 can turn.gif

so your PS3 will be spinning for hours on end while you play

Nice try bro, but you have no point.

I own a PS3 and the disc drive barely makes any noise if any at all. I can't even hear it while playing a game.

Thank you man, play.com has got the best price and looking at the reviews mostly are positive. I no its second hand but for that price i don't think you can go too wrong, would you recommend a second hand hard drive?

I don't think you should get a 360 for GTA V, especially a cheap, original one. The failure and breakdown rate is high for the earlier 360 models, I would not risk it.

Never had to get one myself however my daughter has a second hand 20gb Xbox which we got from Gamestation and that is still running sweet, no HDD failures or overheating or anything.

I would imagine whichever store you buy from will have some kind of warranty available incase it does fail. You would need to contact the seller and ask what their returns policy is for defective items.

Would I get one? yeah but I'd avoid ebay at all costs. I would try and source a local store like Grainger Games, CEX or Game first rather than buying online, that way if it is defective it's easier to return it.

If you do have a local CEX they are doing them for £20 http://uk.webuy.com/...u=SX360HDD120UA they are also doing the 60gb for £12.00

I'm in the same boat mate. Planning to get one from CEX. Don't really like the shop but they are a trusted retailer, friends of mine have bought and sold consoles there with no probs.

Plus I'm gonna trade in a couple of old games and then it will only cost a few quid for the hd. icon14.gif

the PS3 doesn't need to full installs, I can play any of my disc based games and it sounds the exact same as any of my digital games.

I knew this long before GTA v was even announced, it's one of the features of the 360, to entirely install everything from the disc into the storage device.

When you have the time I recommend installing all frequently played games, load times become near nonexistent.

If you've been playing on the X360 at least one in the last few years, you'd already know you could do this with ANY retail game.

I don't get it. What does he mean by, "It will not have to spin,"?

when you install a game on your xbox you still have to have the disc in to play it, but it wont spin, the only benefit you get from it is less noise because its not spinning

Holymother of God! I did not know this!

I'm going to do this. Every less noise is better! smile.gif
