Hello! smile.gif

I don't have a PS3, nor an Xbox or any other console, besides my ancient PS2. I haven't played any games for years.

But I'm gonna buy GTA V come launch day, and I need a console, obviously. I'm not a fanboy, I don't hold a grudge towards either Sony or Microsoft, so I'm interested in making a purely rational decision. I'm an adult, after all.

So, I'm asking you to help me decide. Keep these things in mind:

- Money is not a problem. I don't care about the price of the console.
- In addition to GTA V, I intend to play the following games (online and offline): GTA IV, Skyrim, the Mass Effect series, Fallout 3 (+ New Vegas) and Red Dead Redemption. At the moment I have no other games on the radar.

And btw: I don't care about next generation consoles, even if GTA V was to arrive on PS4 or Xbox 1 some day.

Playstation 3: Better Graphics, functions as a multimedia player, great exclusives, more power, etc.

I wouldn't really say that the PS3 looks better and is more powerful than the 360. You're gonna fuel a console war.

I would say Xbox not because I own one but because I don't really like the controller I'm more comfortable with Xbox but ps3 has free online and Xbox doesn't but they're giving away two free games a month on Xbox so to keep you busy Xbox may have to pay but they hardly ever get hacked and if you own a pc with windows 8 it will be easy to navigate ps3 has some great exclusives like last of us uncharted and infamous I really don't know that much but we have minecraft state of decay halo gears of war Spartacus legends (it's free) fable (the third one is free) and many more they both have their ups and downs both basically the same but Xbox costs less c: it's your chose

I'd say PS3. Sure it doesn't have Mass Effect(the first one) on it but it does have free online, great exclusives like The Last of Us and has some good support that will continue after the PS4 launch. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix and Final Fantasy X/X-2 remaster is also a plus.
I can't think of any exclusives coming out for the 360 and as others have said having a blue-ray player is always a bonus.

The PS3 version of GTA V comes on just one disc.

As someone who has owned both you really can not go wrong with either one. Personally me I like the PS3 better.

With the PS3 you could enjoy the on-line play for free. It looks like it's going to be absolutely amazing, so I would side with Playstation if this is the main game you want the console for.

I'm an xbox owner, but I'm contemplating getting a PS3 for this as well. I'm not sure though.

Depends on your preference for exclusives really. PS3 has Gran Turismo, Uncharted, The Last of Us, God of War, Infamous and Killzone for example. That and the PS3 has a blu ray player.

However at the end of the day, they are pretty much matched (I've always been a PS owner but don't enjoy these stupid flame wars, at least those with either console get to play the game, in pretty much the same shape or form.)

I'd say PS3. The gameplay was taken straight from PS3 so it's obvious that they optimized V better than on Xbox, a nice change from IV biggrin.gif

Get the console your friends have. Nothing more boring than playing a game on your own cause your mates are on the opposite console.

personally, I'm a ps3 person because my hand likes to be 'lazy' and not need to stretch to fit the control.

i have the xbox 360 but personally if i were you i would get the ps3 just because it has blu ray and better exclusive games like the last of us and stuff. but if you are more into communication and better controllers [ person preference] then go with the xbox

No benefit from that as the TC would miss out on loads of great games including the purpose of them wanting to buy a console and that would be GTA V.

Thats not at all what it means, infact its highly unlikely that is the case at all.

The most sensible reasoning of this is very simple, we already know Sony has a deal with playstation, such as the special edition and such, its entirely possible they simply paid for their console to be the one they show gameplay on.

Also threads like this are so pointless as there is already 50000 of them.
