GTAIV lacked diesel pick-up trucks, I personally really wanted to drive one in the game. Any other game that has included driving vehicles, I have noticed the lack diesel trucks. I know there is an audience craving something like this in the game. R* putting some 3/4 ton and 1/2 ton 4x4 diesels in the game would just be BA in my opinion, conquering the terrain, and going off-road "rolling coal". What are your opinions? user posted image

R* can't even put a car sounding like it has a proper gasoline engine, much less create a diference between a gas and diesel one.

Since fuel seems to not be in the game, what's point of a having a diesel truck?

There's truth in that, but I believe that since R* has told us that there is a deep level of vehicle customization, I would think they'd put a strong effort to put better sounds to the vehicles of GTAV, plus I know that they have received concerns and complaints about the matter.

A parody of the Dodge Ram was shown in the Trevor's Trailer, isn't it diesel? Hopefully it will sound like a real truck...

That's like saying they only need a jet plane over prop planes IMO. Diesel trucks have more torque and more suitable for pulling loads and trailers. <-- This will most likely play out a large role in performing heists and such. Plus "rolling coal" is a unique aspect of a diesel, as you have probably noticed from the large trucks in other GTAs such as the Phantom, and the Flatbed.

Yeah the trucks in the trailer are similar in style, but Dodge has Cummins and Hemi engines in there RAM line of trucks, Cummins being diesel, and Hemi being gasoline. Also, I hope they get the engine sounds right too!

Another thing I failed to mention, diesel trucks are turbo charged, they have a unique deep rumble with a nice whistle. Nothing beats a good sounding note coming from a turbo wink.gif Check this out, skip to 1:24 to get to the business.

1 thing I have never understood is why Americans called them trucks. Shouldn't that be reserved for the actual big B-double type vehicles that haul cargo. In Australia we call your trucks utes short or utility vehicle.

I understand the ute thing, but I just think it's just a cultural thing. Also when I see a vehicle that has been referred as a "ute" it's a little car/truck hybrid looking thing. I drive a "pick-up truck" that weighs somewhere around 8800+ pounds, which is around 4000Kg. It's capable of pulling loads around 15,000 pounds.

Mmm yea, I see where you're coming from. A truck then is like bigger ute. The pick ups you guys drive are way bigger than anything we usually see on our roads!

I would really like this..I think the ambulance in 4 was diesel but you could only hear it if you were in the cab and turned the radio off. It would be even cooler if when you really stepped on it big black smoke would come out the tailpipe.

Above all, diesel cars/trucks/emergency services vehicles wouldn't explode when they caught fire. A big gameplay modifier.

the pickup trucks in those pics are indeed, a very good start. but remember, those are offered with gasoline engines, too.

I have probably about 100,000 miles under my belt, pulling RV trailers with my 1-ton turbo diesel truck and, I can assure you, YOU WANT DIESEL TRUCKS IN THIS GAME! especially with the 'deep customization' that R* is promising.

a tuned diesel pickup truck engine (chipped CPU, larger turbo/exhaust, etc.) is easily capable of producing 800+ horsepower, and 2,000+ foot pounds of torque. that's an absolutely crazy amount of power! even in a heavy vehicle like these pickup trucks (mine weighed about 9,000 lbs), that is enough power to blow the doors off of most 'fast' cars, on the road, today.

I will be disappointed if I can't modify a diesel pickup truck in the game, for sure.

I know very little about vehicles IRL.. But I think a dually would be cool. Or whatever it is when it is a big truck with 4 wheels just on the back.

here's some food for thought. just how fast can these diesel pickups be?

Nissan Skyline GTR gets spanked by a diesel truck.
another GTR, incidentally.

1,000 horsepower diesel pickup truck.

In Europe Diesel is common in Mercedes Audi and BMW cars, and give quite a kick, but they have expensive maintainence but offer better economy, but is there fuel in this game anyway lol

I'm really hoping they add at-least one proper diesel pick-up truck.
The ones in GTA IV are to light and weak and the big ones like Flatbed are to slow. I would like to see one that is powerful and also fast.

I totally agree with you. I really hope R* integrates diesel pickups in the game. I have emailed them, hopefully I can get some feedback.

They need to include some big V8 turbo diesels.

Because it's a big damn truck and adds variety to the vehicle selection. Also, it might be fun to use to smash traffic with.

They'd be good for mutliplayer if it allowed a teammate to go in the back of the truck and fire out of it.
