I have been getting this error a lot. Here's what's been happening... When I have Games for Windows Marketplace installed it comes up with the WS10 Error... When I have GFWM uninstalled the game does not load at all. I really need help because I want to play the game very badly.

Rockstar answered to this bug and said that it should be fixed by re-installing Games for Windows Live. In case that doesn't work, make sure you've got these installed: Games for Windows Live Update, .NET Framework 3.5 & the GTA IV Patch 1.0.7.0.
Besides, where do you have the game from? Are you using any mods or cracks? Do you play with the original DVD in your Drive?

No mods or cracks have been used since I am unable to even access the game itself... I do play with the original DVD in my drive.

Download and install (re-install if you already have it):
  1. Games for Windows Marketplace Client - Download
  2. Games for Windows LIVE Update (GFWL) - Download
  3. GTA IV Patch 1.0.7.0 (unless you already have the latest version of the game) - Download
  4. DirectX End-User Runtimes - Download
  5. Microsoft Visual C++ SP1 Redistributable Package x86 (all three) - Download 2005 / Download 2008 / Download 2010
  6. .NET Framework (try only 3.5 first) - Download 3.5 / Download 4.5
  7. Rockstar Games Social Club - Download
