What just about to post this. Twitter is going nuts right now. Hopefully for my Aussie buddies, the unexpected happens and they can get their hands on V.

MEDIA RELEASE

‘Saints Row IV’: first computer game classified Refused Classification

The Acting Director of the Classification Board Mr Donald McDonald announced today that Saints Row IV was the first computer game in Australia to be Refused Classification under the Guidelines for the Classification of Computer Games that commenced on 1 January 2013.

The Classification Board classified the game RC (Refused Classification) in accordance with item 1(a) of the National Classification Code and in accordance with the computer games guidelines.

In the Board’s opinion, Saints Row IV, includes interactive, visual depictions of implied sexual violence which are not justified by context. In addition, the game includes elements of illicit or proscribed drug use related to incentives or rewards. Such depictions are prohibited by the computer games guidelines.

Mr McDonald said the Classification Board had now been applying the new computer games guidelines for almost six months and this was the first game to be refused classification.

“Apart from today’s decision, since the beginning of the year, the Board has classified 17 games R 18+ under the new guidelines,” Mr McDonald said.

When making decisions about computer games, the Classification Board must use the criteria set out in the Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games Act) 1995, the National Classification Code and the Guidelines for the Classification of Computer Games.

The new Guidelines for the Classification of Computer Games came into effect on 1 January 2013. Prior to then, Australia did not have an adult category for computer games.

An application to classify Saints Row IV was received by the Classification Board on 13 May 2013.

Classification decisions can be viewed at the classification website at www.classification.gov.au.

Well that's bullsh*t!

18 year old. Can drink in night clubs, legally drive, by Cigaretts, by alcohol from a bottle O, get a screw from a prostitue

But can't play a cartoon comedy game filled with stuff that the subject does every weekend...

Only in Australia.

This isn't the end, we'll raise against this pathetic existence of a lifeform and protest, I hope anonymous will involve themselves in actions against the Australian Government.

In my opinion, it's almost entirely based around the "elements of illicit or proscribed drug use related to incentives or rewards." Fallout 3 had the exact same issues, but it was still eventually classified and came out at the same time in Australia as the U.S.

So, here's the thing, if Trevor is a drug addict, what will be the effects of him taking drugs? Will they give him bonuses in health, speed or stamina? Or will they just make the screen go blurry with him stumbling around? The two are very different things.

Me personally, I don't care for SR4. Just looking at the bigger picture and what's to come. I'm American tho, so what do I know.

This is a disgrace. Stand Australians, stand. I'm no fan of the Saints Row series but this is an impeachment upon our rights! This is a free country and that means we should be able to access what we wish, no matter what's in it. We don't want Gillard as our leader and she ignores this and doesn't piss off, we at least want Rudd back, yet we're ignored by the Labor party?

I'm no fan of the coalition but they're all about the economy, maybe we should just vote them in so we can actually get f*cking games? suicidal.gif

I'll protest against this Government, and with violence.

I'm seriously f*cking pissed off now, if V's banned then I don't care about our legal system anymore.

This is coming from someone who's being studying legal for a year and a half and this is just such a pathetic disgrace. Honestly, his names f*cking Donald McDonald, how can we take a motherf*cker with a name like that seriously?

Sums up the way the Saints Row series is going... I wasn't going to buy this game anyway.

Cheers!

American-based publisher THQ can appeal the decision to the Classification Board, or censor elements of the game and reapply for a classification in Australia.

It isn't over yet. SCREAM OUR OUTRAGE AGAINST THIS AND THEY WON'T GET AWAY WITH THIS, WE WON'T LET THEM.

If V is going to be released in Australia, they'll probably cut some content for just their version.
