Since you are new to xbox and don't really care what game/genre; maybe you can spend some time downloading and sampling a bunch of demos from XBL. That way you aren't burning through a whole bunch of money on games to find out not all of them are for you.

Where RED = PS3 exclusive, GREEN = Xbox 360 exclusive, and YELLOW = multiplatform

Grand Turismo 5 *, Dark Souls **, Witcher 2 , Fallout 3 ***, Fallout New Vegas ***, Borderlands 1 & 2 , Uncharted 1 2 & 3 , Ratchet and Clank HD & Tools of Destruction & A Crack in Time ****, The Last of Us , Assassin's Creed series , Metal Gear Solid series , Sleeping Dogs , Just Cause 2 , Gears of War 1 2 & 3 , Halo 3 & 4 & OST , Max Payne 3 , Heavy Rain , Beyond: Two Souls *****, Little Big Planet 2 ******

* I'd recommend a demo first, it's a love it or hate it game for most people.
** It's a hardcore RPG, it's probably the hardest (without being cheap) game this generation. If you don't like dying a lot, I don't recommend it.
*** Compared to Skyrim, they may feel a little dated, but one you get used to the gameplay, they're amazing games.
**** The best platformer of this and last generation imo, just don't get the newer versions since they're not really traditional R&C games but more tower defense and team-up.
***** Not out yet, but it looks amazing.
****** Like Dark Souls, it may not be your type of game, check out a demo first.

If you have a good 300gb or more space open on your ps3, I would HIGHLY recommend getting Playstation Plus. It gets you free games every month (well, it's a permanent lease technically; they're not playable if you don't renew your subscription, but as long as you have it, they're fully available to play and download like any other game bought off the PSN store). I've gotten a good 30 games from just around two months of being s subscriber. It's also super cheap: $50 for one year, you can buy a card from gamestop and activate it on your ps3 or just buy it from the PSN store.

To be honest, there are tons of games for the 360 and the PS3, you could just Google it instead of making a new topic, If you were looking for a specific game or Genre it would have been acceptable but this isn't.

This.

You could always get on Metacritic.com and browse through the High Scores section to find a game that will interest you.

Alan Wake is my favourite Xbox exclusive & an under appreciated classic in my opinion. Didn't help that it released alongside RDR & therefore was destined to fail.

Fable 2. Failing that, Fable 3, as you can download it for free from Xbox Live.
Also on the PS3 front, Heavy Rain. Not what you would call a fast paced game, but the story telling and replay value is incredible.

Uncharted. It's storyline based So in a way it doesn't have much replay value, but they are going cheap as they are older games, I have played the story a few times though, they interest me enough.

But like someone mentioned, try the demos of games, you can spend 20 bucks on a PS+ 3 month subscription, and try the one hour demos for the PS3 exclusives (Like Uncharted.) and/or any other games you wanted to try. That said however you should be able to buy the entire first Uncharted for the same price haha.

Rainbow 6 vegas 1 & 2

This.

Also, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are 1 billion percent MUST BUY especially if you have played skyrim and liked it.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a must, and a damn bargain.

Mirror's Edge
Sleeping Dogs
Hitman Absolution
Hitman HD Trilogy
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
Battlefield 3 + Battlefield Bad Company 2 (For multiplayer)
Far Cry 3

But really, get Fallout, you can kiss goodbye to your free time after that.

Gears of War franchise. Epic gameplay, characters and polish. Gears of War 2 has sh*t matchmaking, but this is more than made up for by Gears 3, which has excellent multiplayer. I bought Gears Judgment a few days ago and it came with a key for the original GoW, which I'd be happy to PM you.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is also very good for a deep, engrossing SP RPG.

Daz's recommendations are good too, but I'd add CoD 4: Modern Warfare (NOT the sequels) to that list.
