Hi everyone,

Is there anyone who can help me with enhancing the quality of the recorded sound of my drums through, preferably, Sony Vegas (10)?
I found out that the recording quality of my mothers camera is pretty good if used correctly, so it's one mic I have.
Could someone help me or give links to sites or videos that could help me out? smile.gif

Sorry for creating a whole new topic for this by the way!

Thanks for reading, Exxon.

Are you familiar with drum samples? A lot of people replace the camera drum sounds with drum samples. Or if you want, you could blend in the camera sounds with the samples, but I don't know how that would turn out.

I always make my tracks with samples, the quality is much better if you get the right ones, although they are a little pricey. Some of them sound ridiculously fake, so what most people go for is Joey Sturgis samples and Steven Slate. Here is a track that I made a while back with some Sturgis and Slate samples mixed.

So you basically mix pre-recorded sounds and claim you played it?
I want to enhance MY sounds, not others' turn.gif

I never claimed I played it, haha I'm just saying, the quality is much better, but I see what you're saying. I guess you could try EQ'ing it? I've never tried mixing camera sounds before, really, and Sony's EQ'ing tool isn't the best (I use Vegas for editing my YT videos)

My guess would be downloading a free/cheap recording program and take only the audio from the camera and editing it there. The best free program that I know of is Audacity.

A good cheap one is Mixcraft 6 and it's 75 dollars which is cheap compared to the other recording softwares. I used before what I use now (Reaper)

Here is some download links if you wanna try them

Yeah I have Audacity and Sony Vegas Pro 10, but I don't really know how to edit the sound too much.
I have been fooling around with the sound and it has become better now in my opinion, but any tips maybe?
Audacity is a real pain in the ass if you don't quite know how to do things.

Here's the sound file, I hope the download works:

http://search.4share...Drums_Only.html

It's the drums only file (.mp3) for the song "Jurk! - Zou Zo Graag" which is a Dutch song.
It won't be so hard syncing the drums and the song, the start is easy to recognize smile.gif
Be warned though, I did mess up a bit. I somehow am nervous when recording myself blush.gif

Thanks, and that's the raw version.
This is how far I came, just compare the two icon14.gif
I'm pretty satisfied with it, to be honest smile.gif

I tried. Tell me what you think. I didn't sync it to the song or anything, just edited it.

Drum sounds recorded via a camera just aren't good enough to use mate, what you need is raw WAV recordings of the drum sounds.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I just use a mixture of Slate and Sturgis samples, but it would be nice if I could make my own.

I tried it again. Way better than before. You can use your track or whatever you wanna do, I'm just doing it as an experiment. Here ya go.

Is it better than the one before at least?

Good sample, but it's really a shame the high sounds from the cymbal have a weird feel to it.
I really thank you for taking the time for me, but I think I'll leave it with this. Thanks anyway! smile.gif

Alright, back with another update. I recently purchased Steven Slate Platinum and I've been doing little tests for different genres. I'm never going back to what I was using before. Tell me what you think!

Sounds good, but nothing beats a real acoustic kit wink.gif
