Any time I hear Barstow or Bakersfield, I always think of this film. Man I hope they do pardoy this film in GTA V out in the desert area.

I hope there is a sizeable town/city on the other side of the mountain. I loved the idea of small towns in SA. When I read in the previews that there are small towns my head exploded. GTA had only been single cities. I was thinking: dayum! How big can this game be!?

Why would there be a street called Bay City Avenue when there is no Bay City? It doesn't make any sense. Nobody is saying it's going to be the size of Los Santos, there are very little differences between a town and a city, it's possibly just a small town called Bay City.

Bay City Drugstore isn't enough evidence alone?

I don't get it.

Why is Bay City such a controversy? We already got a Sandy Shores... so why not Bay City? It would only be a similar size, but on the coast.

I dont think its a full city and certainly not a small town. It has metered parking. Small towns wouldnt have metered parking so its probably a bigger city than Sandy Shore at the North. Maybe its a mixture of Santa Barbara and some other town?

i live in a town of 6900 people and we have metered parking.

Why is it that when stupid people post threads (see above) that are unintentionally stupid that's okay but when knowingly smart people post knowingly stupid threads that are supposed to be satirical and funny in a way that alleviates the situation and makes light of these situations in a way that is just humorous we end up getting warned for posting spam?

It's really b!@@!@#$$ if you ask me.

This thread can be summed up like this. The sign in Trevor's shot probably says bay city. We know there is a bay city avenue so maybe there is a "location" in V called bay city. We haven't seen north of Mt Chiliad so maybe there?

If that's so ridiculous of a topic then state your opinion. No need for everyone to be condescending dick bags about it. THAT'S why most people don't visit the V section any more.

I hope R* releases something to clarify the Northern part of the map at the end of June. At the best Bay City (going off the Trevor pic) could be the size of Alderney if that picture is taken on the outskirts of town, but more realistically it could be the size of Sandy Shores or maybe even Bohan.

It wasn't Frankfort City Avenue, Frankfort was just the street name. Likewise, it's not Bay Avenue, it's Bay CITY Avenue. They've named the Avenue after a place, what's so hard to understand?

Please, tell me more. There is no indication that Frankfort Avenue is anything other than a regular old street name (there is no place in IV called Frankfort), whereas there are multiple clues that Bay CITY is an actual place, with Bay City Avenue named for it.

Good Find.
What I noticed though is that the road the sign is on is South bound. Generally what ever the exit would lead to would be to the south. So not sure why that exit would lead to North of Chilliad?
I agree the town in the plane pic is next to water where as the trevor pic is at the base of a mountain, so I'm lead to believe they're different places too.

@deffpony, may I add this info to my list on the thread of Other cities?

I agree - not San Fransisco/San Fierro, but instead, SF bay area/oakland? That would be cool.

It also makes a LOT of sense from a development standpoint and Umbra occlusion technology that was integrated to RAGE for IV that the mountains are used to occlude things, not just as a border where on the other side is just the other side of a mountain and water - they are using these mountains to occlude things, and lessen processing strain, so yea, there is likely something meaningful on any given side of a mountain in V.

And Bay City doesn't even have to be a city. It could be a neighborhood. Like in NYC, we have Co-Op City, Lefrak (Not sure if I spelled that right) City, and Alphabet City.

Why would you call an avenue 'Bay City'? Bay Avenue would be alright. Bay City could just me Malibu guys, which we can see exists to some extent on the blueprint map.

I was just coming to say something similar. Long Beach is an actual separate city from the city of LA, however it is part of the general LA Metropolitan Area. Basically it's its own city but yet still part of another city.

Or... Bay City could be a historic city that over time as LS grew it became part of LS and now like you mentioned it just basically a neighborhood within LS.

Or, and this kind of goes along with my previous point, maybe Bay City is that little town looking thing with the drug store & while it's a town now at one point it in history it could've been big enough to be considered a city.

As for the people that say "Well that signs on the South side of the highway so it must be in the South".... You don't realize that if you flip that screenshot camera location around 180 so you're looking at the sign on the North side of the highway it would have the same exit sign because that's how exits work, you get to them from both sides of the highway.

And to the people saying "Why would Bay City Avenue not be in Bay City"..... Why is there a street in Washington DC called Pennsylvania Avenue? Why is there a street in my town of Lehighton called Mahoning Street when the town of Mahoning is the next town over? There is a Catasaqua Road in the cities of Allentown & Bethlehem, yet there is an actual town called Catasaqua about 5-10 miles North of those two cities. And I'm sure if people look around their local areas they'll find plenty of other similar examples.

Has the first screenshot's location been pinpointed? If it hasn't then we may very well be looking at an entirely different city than we know of in the first and last screenshot. My hopes for another smaller city than Los Santos have been raised slightly. I have a feeling they're going to keep the info about the city on lock down until the very last month. But wishful thinking is that they'll reveal it before July along with the multiplayer information. It would only make sense since they kept Alderney a secret with GTA IV, and Mexico a secret with RDR. I've said this before, those highways that run to the North have to lead to some well established settlement rather than just loop around the map pointlessly.

I've said this all along too. Especially since the railway seems so comprehensive - it makes zero sense and will utterly destroy any immersion for the gamer if the railways and highways simply loop back into Los Santos.

Not too many people agree as I found out when I created a thread discussing the topic.

My money would actually be on Reno, however. If we presume that San Fierro and Las Venturas still exist in San Andreas (in canonical terms) then that means parts of Nevada will be incorporated into the fictional state. In my opinion, given the glaring absence of any hint of a casino, the 'other town' could well be based on Reno or even a Native American reservation with a casino complex.

I do think that it's inevitable that something big is hidden in the areas of the map which the collector's 'blueprint' obscured.

If it was another city, why wouldn't it just say Bay City? I've never seen a highway sign that has a road name of the next city, rather than the city name itself.

If you're driving to L.A, I'm pretty sure the signs will say "Los Angeles," rather than some street in Los Angeles.

Also the sign doesn't stick out, if it was a city it would probably be written bigger and bolder, it wouldn't share a sign with another location.

The only 2 possible scenarios here are:
A. This is Los Santos and Bay City Avenue is a street on the next exit (likely).
B. This is actually Bay City in the picture (less likely).

Yea thats a good point. Guess we will have to wait and see.

Remember what we were talking about the other day Deffpony. The sign says Bay city ave South We are basing this off the fact that we believe Alamo sea is north of the city. I have mention before that there was a possibility that the map was upside down and was ridiculed if the map was not then there may be something farther south than we believe and on the new GTA 5 Oclock they made this statement from the Rockstar Rep at 12:00 into the video http://www.youtube.c...uIaL4N&index=42 . Just a assumption I could have been correct about the map being up side down or we are looking at the map wrong
