I don't normally plug new music. most people will just find what they like on their own.
but I've been really taken with the new record from legendary soul singer Mavis Staples which was produced exclusively by Jeff Tweedy (of Wilco fame) and his 16-year old son @ Wilco Studios.

he and his son played every instrument on the album.
some of the tracks are remixes of classic Staples tunes and others are brand new co-written with Tweedy and Wilco. they started by debuting 2 singles this month on the Daily Show which really blew me away:

and here's the studio version of each song with behind-the-scenes footage of the recording sessions:

take notes, kids. that's real f*ckin' music.
yes, people still make real music and that's what it sounds like tounge2.gif

I can't wait until they go on tour with this stuff.
sounds even better live than on the album.

I'm really, really liking "Can You Get To That?". Absolutely excellent song. "I Like The Things About Me" is another gem, although I'm not feeling it as much as the other. Still, I'm sure after a few more plays I'll come to love it.

The overall sound reminds me a little bit of Alabama Shakes. If you haven't checked out their album yet, I highly recommend you do.

Cheers for sharing this one, man. Excellent music icon14.gif
