Have you ever played a game that was too long?

For me, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune could be better if it was about 1/3 shorter.

How about you?

Any online type game (not talking about a game that is single player but has multi-player an mmo or whatever they are called)

GTA IV. The main story was great and all but it dragged too much. On top of that most missions were repetitive, go there, kill him. I finished it half-heartedly once, started my second playthrough but lost interest.

Not really but hey opinions are opinions.
I bought Borderlands: Game of the Year version and still haven't beat it. It's kinds overwhelming how long it is. Dragon Age Ultimate Edition and Final Fantasy XIII are other games that come to mind. monocle.gif

Elder Scrolls Oblivion was insanely long to me. I probably had 100+hrs into that game exploring everything. Almost makes the experience horrible to me.. but I value games that last like that, get more worth out of your money.

prince of persia: the two thrones, not only was it insanely long but boring and flat too. I deleted the game without finishing it.

To be honest, Red Dead Redemption started dragging along slowly in the Mexico section of the game.

Yeah it was like 8 hours or something haha, It was probably a good length. Uncharted isn't overrated by the way, it's brilliant, I love it, reminds me of Star Wars in relation to the characters. (Elena - Leia, Nathan Drake - Han Solo.)

IV's storyline dragged on a lot.

I thought the story was pretty cliche. The characters aren't that great and lack depth. The gameplay wasn't good, the terrible shooting and extremely linear platforming. Uncharted 2 improved upon the original but I still can't imagine how some people say its the best PS3 game.

Uncharted series are indeed very overrated and I'll claim it as a fact, not just an opinion. A simple shooter with a simplified story with no fresh ideas by no means should ever get an average score on Metacritic higher than Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption or Journey, god damn it!

Far Cry 3 tbh.

The 2nd island was unnecessary. They should have just focused on Vaas rather than that russian or w/e for a cliche final boss

I don't like Skyrim either but that's another story. Uncharted does not deserve that much high score on Metacritic. Neither does GTA IV. Red Dead Redemption deserves GTA IV's place. If I remember correctly GameSpot awarded GOTY to Demon's Souls, which is IMO a far better game. Anyway, I am gonna buy The Last of Us though, I hope its not overrated too.

PoP Two Thrones was amazing. I bought a pirated PS2 copy and it turned out to be in Japanese, with no option for English. I finished the game without knowing anything. biggrin.gif

LA Noire; the part of the homicides department was too repetitive so the game started seemed long and boring me.

GTA SA. It was quite long and I didn't like the missions too much. I wish it would have focused more on the Los Santos part of the story confused.gif

I have to agree with Greasepalms about FC3, the 2nd island was unnecessary...

However, there are games with long stories that I've loved like AC2; I'd even liked the story to be longer biggrin.gif

Clocked in over 150 hours in Skyrim but never even got properly started with the main quest.

Granted, the game never "ends".

Overrated?? GTA IV was overrated. Uncharted was the first one. Uncharted 2 was the best one. Uncharted 3 was overrated. Uncharted 3 wasn't as good as 2 cause half the team worked on that while the other half worked on The Last of Us.

What? I guess it comes down to different tastes. For me, UC3 was awesome! It had an excellent story and even though it wasn't as good as the 2nd one's story, it was overall a better game. 3 was a bit short, i'm not going to lie. Personally, none of the UC games were overrated, they are all awesome. I'm just a non biased person.

Any and all elder scrolls games. Ive only played about 8hours of morrowind before i gave up and lost total interest in the story, i played oblivion a lot but never finished the story because of all the sidetracking and petty tasks, and skyrim i beat once but that was enough. All elder scrolls games are too slow and repetitive, creating the illusion of a really long game.

But besides that, i still play them an enjoy them, even if i never finish.

I haven't played UC3. But there is no way UC2 deserves such a high Metacritic score. The games might be good technically, but the story is cliche, the shooting isn't good, the puzzles are so easy even a child can solve them and the platforming is extremely linear. I thought that it would have some exploration similar to the old Tomb Raider games or even PoP series, but sadly I was disappointed. I have to say though, their Crash Bandicoot games were f*cking awesome.

I mean, since we're just listing off games we've spent a long time playing I suppose I could say Team Fortress 2 which I have exactly 1300 hours in. But that's not fair considering it's pretty much unlimited, and hell, saying a game was too long is kind of stupid, especially considering the trend lately is games being far too short for their own good.

How is the story cliche? There were no obvious remarks in the game so please, explain. And how is the shooting bad? Considering this is a linear game and it was hard for them to use good physics, they were focused on graphics and gameplay/story.

Haven't done them all either... way too many things to destroy, but the ending of the story is pretty cool.
