It looks like we finally are getting another Jason movie! The next installment of Friday The 13th is still in the writing stages, but rumors are abundant of the plot, with some of them being confirmed. Rumor has it, the next Friday The 13th movie in 2014 will take place after the 2009 remake and will be set in the winter, and it will not be in 3D. Could we see Jason venting his anger on snowboarders, and snowmobilers? Perhaps he unleashes his machete on hockey players lol.

One other version that is being rumored, suggests the movie could be a prequel. We don’t really know much about Jason, his mom and the background at Crystal Lake, and it would make for a good explanation. Ok, so here’s the rumour...

A prequel that showed Jason’s mother being raped and beaten by her satanic husband. Jason’s mother was pregnant when the possessed fetus starts communicating with her, commanding her to kill her husband. He beat her badly which caused Jason to be malformed, which makes sense. Jason looks really f*cked up when he leaps from the lake in the first film, his beatings in the womb may explain this angle. Mrs. Pamela Voorhees ends up giving birth to Jason near Crystal Lake. Mrs. Voorhees is working at a nearby diner when a camp counselor hires her as a camp cook and convinces her and Jason to move onto the camp grounds. Years later Jason gets picked on by the other children, he’s an outcast and a deformed one, making him an easy target. It all ends (or should I say begins) one day when the evil little bastards send him into the lake, telling him a girl wants to kiss him and he drowns. How he drowns is still a mystery, but it's believed he is pushed in the lake by the sh*tty kids, and they all watch him drown.

And then we have this rumor...

Corey Feldman stepped in recently and said if there is another Friday The 13th, he wants to write and direct the movie. And the rumors with that is, Corey Feldman, is planning to reprise the role for what will be the 13th film in the long standing franchise, Friday the 13th Part XIII: Jason Vs. Jarvis in 3D. You Jason fans will remember who Jarvis is, and that Feldman played the young boy who stood up and destroyed the evil Voorhees in Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter. Here is what Corey Feldmon said himself about it...

"The idea is something we have been brewing for a few years. Its something I thought up, maybe, ten years ago. Then the fans came to me. They said, “Hey, we want to do this, what do you think?” I said, “I think it’s a great idea.” They said, “We saw your interview where you were talking about it, and now we want to really get it going.” So, we took it to the studio. Now we are in the political arms of the studio. We will see what happens. It is something where I have been talking to the original writer, Barney Cohen, about it. He wrote the original Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter script. And we have talked to the original producers of that script, and the original director. It has gone through the pipeline. We will see where it lies."

So, there are a lot of rumors swirling around about what is happening with the new Friday The 13th movie, but it looks like it won’t be released till 2014 at the earliest now. Derek Mears has been confirmed as Jason, and it is a continuation of the series with an ‘older’ Voorhees "walking" around with a hockey mask. Corey Feldman will be in the film if he takes the movie over. But that's all the concrete info we have so far.

I'll keep you updated on the latest Friday The 13th News. colgate.gif

I would be pissed as f*ck if this is going to be a sequel. Part one has to be the worst remake ever made for a movie. I really loved how it began with an awesome prelude showing Jason's mother getting beheaded. And then, it decayed into the same slasher movies sh*t "go into forest, put up camping tents, f*ck the sh*t out of girlfriend and FINALLY get killed by the masked hobo(s) dwelling in the woods." I was so sure that the ending's not gonna be a happy one.

Jason, on the other hand, is pretty amazing. I really wanna see him again. But, then again, no matter how much gruesome he's gonna be in the sequel, the film will probably be ass, but people will pay and that's what Paramount
banks on. A prequel would be cool but since it's gonna be about Jason's mother (though, we're not sure), I doubt if Jason would have much to do in it. Sure, he would be along with his mother all the time but I'm talking about the vengance-seeking gruesome Jason here. Anywho, I'm looking forward to this. Really love to see what they're gonna do this time.

Imo the remake was better than pt5 through 9. And I really liked it. But hell, I like anything with Jason. biggrin.gif

Whether or not you like watching Friday the 13th depends on whether or not you like an excuse to watch people get chopped up on film. There's nothing wrong with that. No one's expecting classic cinema here. That being said, why another Friday the 13th? I like the occasional bloody slasher but with all the sequels it does start feeling a bit silly. Don't the creators of Jason know how to let things die? moto_whistle.gif

I'm kidding, but I do hope.
I have to be one of the few people who actually liked the remake, but to be fair I never watched the originals. orly.gif

I liked the marketing for it. It really hyped me up, but then I watch it with utter disappointment walking out of the theater.

So a little update. It's rumored that the producers are trying hard to get this to be a 'Found Footage" type movie. Personally, I feel like traditional photography is the only way to go on these things. Half the reason I go to an F13 is for that nostalgic kick of seeing teens killed in an idyllic, peaceful setting. That all goes away with POV. My two cents would be to suggest making the thing at a safe budget of $10-$15 million and really knocking it out of the park by giving the fans what they want. And I’m not sure we the fans want this. :/

Wish they'd stop remaking these old films. Their oldness and corniness is most of the fun.
