This is a new fantasy MMO from Cryptic Studios that is free-to-play, and it's a total f*cking blast. I've been playing about a month now and have thoroughly enjoyed all of it. Think WoW but without a subscription and with more engaging combat. It's currently in open beta and goes full launch on June 20.

The game looks great, the combat is extremely fun and fluid, and each class offers a unique skill set and balance that prevents anyone from feeling like they made the wrong choice. They've done a great job of making each class valuable in some way, and they all play differently.

The classes are:
-Control Wizard (magic)
-Trickster Rogue (dexterity fighter)
-Guardian Fighter (stick and board)
-Great Weapon Fighter (two-hand)
-Devoted Cleric (ranged healer)

I have a Cleric and a Rogue and both are compelling.

There is an option to purchase Zen and buy packs of gear and mounts or whatever, but if you prefer to remain a free player you will still get plenty of gear and loot from dungeons and quests that you never feel cheated. PvP is still partially a pay-to-win bag which is almost unavoidable, but the core gameplay doesn't feel this way and offers a LOT of content. There are dungeons and skirmishes for every level tier, and once you hit 60 there are epic versions of all the dungeons.

New dungeon coming up soon:

I'm in a guild with some folks from work and a couple people from here, but that won't prevent us from creating a party and kicking some ass together.

Anyone else play? What's your @handle? Let's f*ck sh*t up.

Give me your user information and I'll put it on here for all to share. Be aware that you must be on the same server to chat and play together (duh).

Boom. Started up a rogue as a placeholder, but I'm really hoping there's some Ranger class action added soon. I really dig this, especially considering the microtransactions are really not an issue for core gameplay.

Might give this is a check, but all the MMO RPG's I've tried are crap, Runescape was the worst. I'll still try this out sometime though.

E: Is it a browser MMO or download? If it's the latter I won't be giving this a check at all.

It's a download. This game would be sh*t in a browser.

I play every day. I work full time but I try to play a couple hours each night.

Having fun so far, I'm going to try out tanking, as I never tried it in WoW and barely got a grasp of it in SWTOR. This game has pretty sweet mechanics though, looking forward to figuring it out.

Leveling would be more fun if we could run some type of crew.

Ah so that is what I bought! I thought it was a reference to Neverwinter's Night (which I've got complete edition) and I think it is sh*t.

We can party up and do some dungeons, skirmishes, etc.

The only profession I've put time into is Leadership because it gives XP and astral diamonds. I find solid gear from playing, though I bet the higher skills let you make sweet gear. I haven't checked ahead in the list.

Also, you can keep your professions going when you aren't online by going to gateway.playneverwinter.com. Also works on mobile/tablet. It's helpful.

I do wish smithing was more like it was in the Neverwinter Nights games, and I wish changing the appearances of the armor was more like that as well. Alas, alack.

Agreed. There are different visual styles of some gear, but it doesn't change enough.

Does this game have any websites with item/stats optimization support ala wowhead/ thottbot and the like. I'd really like to know what stuff I should be prioritizing since I'm generally clueless at doing the math myself. SPOONFEED ME

I don't think they've gotten there yet, as this is still open beta. The forums has a few discussions about optimal builds, if you like.

Yeah I found a few topics on the forum, hard to pick through leveling content and end game stuff, but good enough for now.

Patch today, hopefully I don't get as much lag tonight as I did yesterday, block was registering 2-3 seconds late and I was getting trucked at every angle. I hope it's a problem server side and not with me.

That said, I'm digging the game so far, very impressive, though I do get lost at times.

I had to turn down the graphics a bit. Today's patch is huge http://nw.perfectwor.../news/?p=913661

I haven't seen anyone online the past couple days aside from my work buddies.

I'm a cranky old D&D paper player from the old TSR days.

I'll pop in and report back with my name if it looks like something that can be played casually. I can't commit to anything to time consuming these days.

Looks cool though .

Looks cool, I have it downloading right now. Reminds me of a couple of newer MMOs I've played, the combat system especially.
