...A Xbox One exclusive? I think that's going to change VERY soon now that Capcom has seen the Sony conference at E3.

I really hope so. Even so as a big fan of DR games, I don't want greedy, money sucking Microsoft hands stuck into my pockets because of one great game.

I'm gonna have to buy an Xbax one to play this game. But I'm not gonna be happy about it!

Dead Rising is one of my favourite series ever and I'll be damned if I'm gonna miss a game.

Hell, Dead Rising 1 is the reason I ever bought a 360 in the first place.

Agreed but I won't go that far to purchase a console based solely on a game. Such a shame really, I hope it at least gets a PC port. My whole family is a fan of Dead Rising. It's sad to see a franchise leaving our lives just because of the console war.

I tell you man, war is an ugly thing. Frank West is one of my favorite characters in gaming. The dude covered wars! Yeah he ain't gonna be a big part in three, but that guy made me love the first Dead Rising so much. Hell I think Dead Rising 1 was the first game on this current-gen to really wow me.

For the most part, me too. ph34r.gif

I think we should wait and see how XBox One will sell in the first couple of months. With such a poor offer and stupid restrictions the bottom is already cemented for Microsoft. rolleyes.gif So after the ceremony is over, I hope that Capcom will come to his senses and release this game for PS4 and PC. icon14.gif

Dead Rising 1 was excellent. Dead Rising 2, I couldn't even get past the first hour of it... it was exactly the same experience. Dead Rising 3 will be another meh... Xbox One can have it... out of sympathy.

Still if the game comes to PS4, Xbox One stills gets the DLC's first confused.gif But I think that without a problem Capcom will make it for PS4 and probably in a later date on PC. Microsoft failed so much that I don't think that the develepors are thinking to make games for it since everyone know that PS4 will do A LOT better on sales. Also PS4 = $399.99 Xbox One = $499.99 so yeah I think that the PS4 will win the console war without a doubt.

This isn't coming anywhere near the PS4. It's probably a part of the billion dollar investment MS made for exclusives, if this ends up on PS4 MS will probably sue the sh*t out of Capcom.

Eh, I've never liked the DeadRising games.. but I'm suprised to see that they did an XB1 exclusive with this.. this decision alone may keep some of the fans sticking with Microsoft and not jumping ship.

RYSE would be another choice if you decide to buy an Xbox One.. that game looks fun as well.

Spark looks good.. Quantum Bullsh*t? Pffft, that'll come out in like 2015 Considering Remedy. Could be good though, just looks like it maybe a big flop.

Gameplay video:

As usual, the zombies appear to pose little threat whatsoever. I damn-well hope I'm proven wrong.

A few things I do like, though:
  • The ability to sprint
  • Destructible environments (including the ability to run through fences, etc)
  • Animations look nice, climbing will certainly come in handy
  • Instant crafting system, as opposed to being limited to work-benches
  • Overall, a more realistic atmosphere. No ridiculous music, no casino setting, the ability to craft realistic items such as handguns with flashlights
  • A city! At last! Less restrictions
  • A vocal character, going to be interesting to hear what he says when in different scenario's
  • Unique HUD, less intrusive (no more constant switching left-and-right to find the weapon you want)
  • Ambient music, such as the Hip Hop-type track in the gym
  • Genuine open-world feel - Vehicles littering the streets, blood on walls shaped to write "help me!", apocalypse themed
  • Abundance of vehicles (notice how when he's driving the yellow car, lights from other vehicles switch on, likely alarmed, but proof they're usable)
  • Realistic lighting, such as when he jumps through the window into the eerie, dark building

I'm probably going to give this one a miss... for now. It looks like a decent zombie game, but I'm just not feeling the "Dead Rising" here. Looks more like The Walking Dead (especially the visual style), and the overtly-serious focus is at odds with the series thus far.

Still, I hope to be proved wrong. I also hope for this "exclusive" to be merely a timed one. But until I am, I shall remain wary.

Was about to post a gameplay video today, but you beat me to it. colgate.gif Anyway, most of the things you mentioned I personally like too, but there is still a place for a lot of improvements. It's next gen! With so many good looking, realistic games, developers must aim high or their games will sink low. Anyway:

• Better gun (especially gun), combat and climbing animations (they still look like they were taken from the first two games and just converted for the next gen with minimal improvements)
• Better driving physics (I don't know, that driving scene looked really, really awesome but driving felt to arcadish and unnatural)
• More realistic feel that you are into a survival horror game, where it's key element surviving alongside with fun.

That's all for now. You mostly mentioned all of the stuff they should really consider improving before the release.

Microsoft are helping them with the development and there publishing it , so it's an exclusive for ever

QUOTE
Capcom Vancouver presented Dead Rising 3 behind closed doors, walking us through the demonstration that debuted during the Microsoft press conference while answering questions about the direction that they've taken. The changes that you can see in images were not a fluke. Capcom is pointedly trying to appeal to a wider audience in this latest iteration, saying it's going after the Call of Duty player. Gone is the cartoonish visual design, replaced by a more "realistic" interpretation of a viral apocalypse. That change is part of the maturation. By shifting the art style, the combat can be "more visceral" than in previous versions, with "real gore."

Another notable shift is to the pacing. The urgency that defined Dead Rising has been turned off in the demo we were shown. Time created "extreme pressure" in the original games, and Capcom wants the zombies to be your biggest threat this time around. In Dead Rising 2, you now run around broken-down neighborhoods, killing zombies in horrific ways without real motivation to push forward. Because of the shift in artistic tone and the nonstop combat, this Xbox One launch game now looks like any other open-world game. The team is confident that the ability to create unique weapons will separate Dead Rising 3 from the crowd, but that spark of originality was absent in the demo we were shown.

frame rate is atrocious. if next gen consoles can't even handle games above 30FPS then its doomed already. the amount of zombies on the freeway is impressive though.

As long as it's not choppy as hell, why does frame rate matter?

Try to aim proper when the framerate is that bad. In a FPS its even worse than in a TPS

if it can't even keep a consistent frame rate of at least 30, imagine how it would be like in 5 to 8 years? it might just be me but the reason i don't play many console games was because of the low frames. i felt that it always break the immersion for me.

This looks pretty fun but I'm not sure about what direction they are trying to head in. What made Dead Rising stand out from the other zombie games was that it was different and new yet it seems from the press interviews that they are trying the "Call of Duty" crowd for Dead Rising 3 which I am completely unsure about.

I liked Dead Rising because it was different, it was the Saints Row of the zombie genre and it allowed you to pick up and play it at any time.

One thing that disappoints me though is the shift back to Xbox Exclusiveness. Dead Rising 2 sold well because it was released on not only the Xbox 360 like the previous game but the PS3 and PC too. I hope it comes out on the PC because I have no intentions on purchasing an Xbox One but it looks like from the developers stand point that they might have a PC version in the works:
