Notice it says only explore all los santos and Blaine county. It's possible that there is another achievement for a different island. I'm mean, there's got to be more than 47 achievements in the largest game rockstar has made!

Have you noticed how Rockstar has always maintained that GTA 5's world is about Los Santos and Blaine County? It is just wishful thinking by now to think there is another island out there somehow. And with the current size estimates of the map, it is already around the same size as the size comparisons given by Rockstar. If there is another island somewhere, the map would be much bigger than they stated, so again it is rather doubtful.

You also need to take GTA Online into account. More islands would make GTA Online even emptier than it may already feel with just 16 players. Yes, they will increase it over time but I expect that the player count will also increase over time once Rockstar starts to take next-gen into account.

I've quoted a piece of text from today's gta v o clock:

V = gta v o clock cast (tim and dan)
R = rockstar (leslie benzies)

V: Can you give us a steer on the geography of that last mission, where we stole the Titan? It looked like the player came along Vespucci Beach, along the western coast, and there looked like there was another, previously-unseen town on the western edge?
R: That wasn't all of the map. You saw a bit of city, you saw some countryside, there's a whole other chunk of map. (The air field that you end up at) is where the plane in the (first) demo took off from. A big military plane. In fact it was the same plane that we stole today. That's what Franklin looked at in that demo when he was parachuting.
V: And we landed next to the Alamo Sea in that last mission?
R: Yep. It was in Blaine County.
V:And approaching Zancudo River way?
R: You guys know your sh*t! You saw a bit of a map, and there's a lot more going on. There's a lot of toys out there, and a lot of areas for people to use, to make their missions.
V: We still get a lot of feedback from people saying the map isn't that big...
R: It's big, and the level of detail in there is ridiculous. It's really quite impressive what the artists have managed to do; to squeeze it all on to this machine.
V: Is there anything else in the GTA Online demo that we saw today that you wanted to make mention of?
R: What you saw in the demo today is such a tiny part of it. The actual thing is such a huge entity. It's massive and it's ever-evolving, and it can be whatever you and your friends want it to be. You can make your own world in any way you want. Place the missions how you want, have the types of missions that you want. So hopefully people will modify it to suit them.

http://www.computera...online/?site=uk

There's also a moment Tim and Dan are talking about if rockstar is going to add vice city, liberty city and London over time, so that they have aal the gta-locations in it. THEY HAVEN'T MENTIONED SAN FIERRO AND LAS VENTURAS!!!!

To make things clear before i post this: i'm just writing down literally what they say, and i give me and just my own opinion on it, if you think i'm wrong, that's fine, but please stop those sh*tty reactions

What time in the interview do they talk about other cities?

pff, will have to listen to that tomorrow, because I have to go to a party in like 5 minutes

All achievements

It looks like the outline of the fanmade map from Fido has been pretty much correct (not 100 % mind you but very close) for some time. I think the width of the map will have to be slightly reduced again, especially on the west.

And also, it's weird how it specifically says "los santos and Blaine county" instead of " explore the whole map"

I think it's just the region of Los Santos and Blaine County.

True. There could be another town there. I must say that after the reveal of the unknown town not being a town at all I am not that hopeful.

There is one thing bothering me though. Where is the airstrip and in the following screenshot? The structures on the left look like the grain silos or casino.

Probably not the lighthouse. The lighthouse is in the upper half of the map.

I assumed he was talking about east of Los Santos. The Interstate 5 goes east and then north again. A part of the route north to, first, the wind turbines hasn't been seen yet. There is a small chunk of freeway (and more) missing directly east of Land Act Dam.

Yep... that pretty much tells us that this is the biggest map Rockstar has created yet, and that we know at least 50% of the map, hopefully 20%. I'm gonna spare the mappers in the mapping thread, they are so sure we've seen 95% of the map already. lol.gif

@_Kindled_

Reading comprehension.

What was shown to the people from CVG was only a part of the map and that is what the developer was talking about. You are delusional to think that the map is way, way bigger. The map is already around the same exact size as the size comparisons given by Rockstar, so it is not going to be much larger.

And yes, you should spare the mappers in the mapping thread because you would only be making a fool out of yourself. Why did you add your post to the mapping thread? They can already drink your blood in that thread simply because that thread is about facts, not about wishes with no factual evidence. And factual evidence are screenshots and screencaps, not a piece of text you can comprehend differently.

Seriously, where on earth do you want to put the extra land you want to believe so much in? We know the contours of the entire island. There is not another island of the same size as the current one to put everything you have hoped for on it. Heck, it would make the entire world around 60 square miles based on the latest numbers. Right now the map is around 30 square miles which falls in line with 3.5 X RDR and GTA 4 + SA + RDR.

Edit:

And the ever evolving part is mostly about GTA Online. The base map of GTA 5 could grow with DLC or it could be that new maps - think Liberty City - may end up being specific to GTA Online only.

@kindled: delete your irrelevant pics of valleys or whatever as they have no baring
here what so ever.

@gwaha: perhaps that airstrip is just to the right out of frame of that larger pic?
or despite how similar they look, those aren't the silos

& yea, earlier i meant the coast east of LS, more so East of the damn

I am really starting to wonder if those structures are actually the same as silos or not as well. I did yesterday but I completely forgot that I had thought about the airstrip simply being the big one in the desert. I wonder if that screenshot isn't just directed at the hills south of Sandy Shores? The mountain on the right seems to be further back and could be Chiliad. I am not very certain about this but the location can't be the silos with there being no airstrip anywhere near it, nor are there what looks like houses next to the tail anywhere in that aerial panorama.

Laurel Canyon seems to be near Los Angeles based on what I just looked up. I'm pretty sure most people think of gorges, rocky ones when they hear the word canyon.

Can't believe people used to say "Read the press statement. It's Los Santos ONLY"

We kept trying to tell people there would be decent sized towns around the map... some which are almost big enough you could say are a small city ie Paleto Bay, where the line between town and city is quite a blur in California I believe.

For real, I started this as sort of a time killer.
It's really evolved into pointing out the towns/cities that are in V.
Now, if we couold narrow down North Yankt & whatever is on the East coast that'd be great. I'd also like to know
more about what we think the silos are. Or pin down where that airstrip is.

I don't think they will be. Paleto is at least important enough that they'll have us doing heist there.
I'm sure trailer town will be alive with rednecks & what not. The Lost have to be in one of these towns don't they, Sandy Shores maybe? I'm sure they'll be entertaining.

To be honest: it seems strange to me, that R* has already revealed whole Los Santos in their SE and CE edition blueprint map...

why did they not simply show a part of the country side on their blueprint, and kept the structure of LS under wraps??? ph34r.gif

If LS is really that important, they would have kept it secret...
there must be something else on the map, much much more important...
otherwise i don't understand it, why they have shown the city, and already taken away the suspense of "the first time unpacking GTAV and watching the map"

I honestly guess, there will be something else mindblowing to see on the map, after unpacking the game!!!
Not necessarily an other big city... but something really really special... believe me guys! wink.gif

This makes so much sense.

It needs some city area in the north to give a better city to countryside ratio and to have a proper destination for the large planes.  They didn't show that part of the map during the previews and I think there's enough space up there for another city.

They said this is "the largest and the most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created". For that to be true, it has to be better than San Andreas was in its time.  I don't see that happening with just one city and nowhere to fly planes to except small country airstrips.  It has to beat this:

Plus, as was already mentioned, why would they reveal as much of Los Santos as they did if that was the only city?  There would be nothing left to anticipate.

This makes sense too, the city might be on an island up north

it wouldn't make sense to put one huge city at the bottom and rest of the map is open country. its too much urban otherwise.

i do believe there is another city, or large town up north. r* probably been careful not to expose this at all. tight wraps.

also airports. no point having one big airport down south. and then small field/farm landing strips. to have one good airport down south there must be another airport up north.

Also, the map the OP posted has the city centralised, i reckon this needs to be more southern, otherwise there'll be too much sea. leaving more space for something up north.

This makes sense, too! wink.gif

EDIT: Dammit, I'm double posting!... Again.
