We've seen that gameplay during Sony's conference at E3. I already have the video of it posted. icon14.gif

Yeah I know, this one goes on for a little longer at the end though, thought people might wanna check it out. I was undecided about buying Destiny but now I'm 100% because of that (weird.)

Then I stand corrected, I watched alittle bit of it and thought it was the same as the E3 reveal video. I'll post it up, thanks for the link. icon14.gif

Hey does anybody know how the loot system works?

In the 12-minute E3 demo, after they killed the boss, he walked over this orb and they both magically got a random weapon - or so it seemed that way. 1 guy got a sniper, one got a machinegun. Is this how the loot system is? Random loot for everyone when you pick up the orb?

This interview from Angry Joe and a couple of devs makes Destiny sound really good. I might just pick this up.

Not sure, I noticed that as well. Perhaps larger opponents drop random weapons and other nice bonuses compared to just regular foot soldiers, etc.

Like in Fable III, if you're playing co-op with a friend and your dog finds a dig spot, you dig up the treasure, then each player gets a random 'treasure'.. so I think it would be cool to have that as well in Destiny, each player receives a different item.

@Joseph I'm watching that vid now.. nice find!

Its open world with co-op with 3 other players, however certain areas of the world that you enter will allow for massive battles with other people. This can only happen in certain areas, once you leave that area its back to single or co-op play.

I wonder how the other players "fade out" after you've part ways with them.

Tech Analysis from DF:

QUOTE
Texture detail is precise and detail-packed and artwork appears clear and crisp. The close-up detail on some surfaces is good enough to suggest that Bungie is utilizing tessellation - the process of dynamically generating new geometry the closer you get to an object - although this treatment seemingly isn't given to the characters, which appear to feature relatively low polygon counts in comparison to other top-tier titles like Call of Duty: Ghosts and Crysis 3. Overall image quality is impressive, though, with Destiny presenting itself at full 1080p with what looks like a form of post-process anti-aliasing in effect , giving the game a crisp but smooth look that is betrayed only by the way of some very small sub-pixel elements of the scene that lightly shimmer in the distance.

As they head towards the walled city we see the use of advanced cloth physics on the characters' apparel and on the canvas covering one of the rusting vehicles nearby as the wind hits them. The surrounding landscape and characters are also nicely reflected in real time on the stagnant pools of water on the ground.

The surrounding landscape and characters are also nicely reflected in real time on the stagnant pools of water on the ground.

QUOTE
Bungie's lighting and effects work stands out, setting the tone for the dimly lit rooms within the structure: dust particles flow through the air, changes in exposure and bloom occur as players move through various locations that feature differing lighting conditions, and these elements are joined by the subtle use of lens flare and light shafts.

At one point, the player activates a probe which partially lights up the nearly pitch-black surroundings, casting dynamic soft shadows across the environment as it ventures deeper into the complex. Moments later, the power is turned back on, illuminating the entire area with pockets of direct and ambient light sources. Impressively, global illumination appears to be in play here, with environmental light being accurately reflected of various surfaces, bringing an extra layer of ambience and depth to this location.

QUOTE
The smoothness and intensity of the combat also leads to some visually pleasing effects when enemies are shot and killed. Physics-based particles are realistically animated, while projectile attacks cast dynamic light sources onto their surroundings . Smoke, fire and contact flash effects are also in effect.

QUOTE
EVSM (Exponential Variance Shadow Mapping) in conjunction with SDSM (Sample Distribution Shadow Maps) is used to render soft shadows that appear relatively clean and consistent from various distances, avoiding the jaggie nature of current solutions.

QUOTE
Projectile attacks accurately illuminate the environment by casting their own lights, sprucing up busy action scenes.

QUOTE
Smoke and fire effects are a little flat and 'current-gen' in appearance, hinting at the title's multi-format cross-gen target, although they do look aesthetically pleasing and spruce up the combat scenes rather nicely.

From PS Blog:

QUOTE
I’m really excited for ‘destiny’ just one question: Is the game running on PS4? I gots to know please!

What we took to E3 were our super-secret dev kits. Those are the hardware tools we’re using to make the game. If you thought that looked pretty, you can totally expect that level of polish on your PS4. The great thing about our new engine is that it lets us squeeze every bit of awesome out of every platform.

SO that means either again a game that did not actually run on a PS4 or a PS4 Dev Kit or they just wanted us to confuse...

I wonder if you can play single-player without Playstation Plus. I wouldn't think so, since it seems more like a MMO with single-player elements.

I pretty sure Bungie even said that they are not worried that Destiny is always on.

It basicly is an MMORPG with SP Elements. So its not a big deal that its always on.

Turns out that this will most likely become a game that comes out every 1-2 years. Shrink those f*cking images.

QUOTE
Bungie's first post-Halo game Destiny has the potential to become Activision's third billion dollar franchise.

That's according to Activision Publishing boss Eric Hirshberg, who says the persistent online shooter looks set to join Call of Duty and Skylanders as a billion dollar IP for the publisher.

"We strongly believe we are on pace to set the all-time pre-order record for a new IP," said an upbeat Hirshberg during an Activision Blizzard earnings call today.

"Based on what we've seen we believe that Destiny has the potential to become the third active billion dollar franchise in the Activision Publishing portfolio," he added.

Destiny is developer Bungie's first game since it parted ways with Microsoft and the Halo franchise it created, and partnered with Activision. Hirshberg, has said previously that the new shooter is "probably one of the biggest investments in a new IP that's ever been made in this industry".

The Destiny release date has been pencilled in for 'early 2014' on PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Well, After the disastrous launch of GTA:O, Battlefield 4, PS4 and X1, I have absolutely zero interest in always-online games.

They can go f*ck themselves.

Give me a proper SP with MP or GTFO.

Not the fault of online games. Its the Devs/Publishers who want the game to be released without Quality Check or any proper Beta.

If there would have been a Beta, we would have a lot less problems. In apl of those games. And no, BF4 had no Beta. It was just a Demo of the Beta Version. (Which, then was released as retail)

I'm still stoked for this and thanks for the awesome bump, I forgot about this thread.

Though I'm not moving on to Next Gen until The Division I believe.. maybe for Watch Dogs.. either way.

Thanks for keeping us up to date, Nero, I've forgot I even had this topic :p

Other than The Division, this will be another sole reason I'll finally jump into the Next-Gen market. Love they're finally making a game that encourages teamwork.

True but I believe playing it with a friend will get rid of that feeling, anyone playing this solo will definitely get tired of the game hours into it.

Thanks for the updates dude, literally forgot this game still existed.
