Having bought both pes and fifa every year since 1996 i had to add to this thread.
First things first PES2014 is looking stunning, the best looking football game so far and the animations of the players is spot on.
The stadiums look immense and full of life and this has been picked up in a few previews. One said " If you are getting hammered at home with 10 mins to go the crowd will start to leave and head home leaving a half empty stadium" but if you are battling for a goal the crowd will raise the volume and try to raise the morale of the players. This seems like a brilliant feature and one that ive wanted in a football game for a long time.
Ive read a few previews now and everyone is saying the weight of the players feel spot on. Playing with Dante he will feel heavy and strong, but playing with robben he feels light and agile with quicker turning. This is one thing i hate in fifa every player feels the same.
There has been talk of 11 vs 11 being planned for this new version. I for one can say if pro evo gets a clubs mode fifa will not get anywhere near my xbox.
Fifa14 looks exactly like fifa 10,11,12 and 13. and no doubt will play the same. i bought fifa13 purely for career and clubs modes but seeing as they are broken and have more bugs than david attenboroughs arse crack it was a useless purchase.
Fifa clubs is a great idea which Ea have got very wrong, games are overrun by midget players who seem to be unstoppable even in the air against anyone. Also its ruined by 12 year old kids playing as GK and running up front thinking its cool. And if you go more than 2-0 up in a clubs game the other team back out. Not to mention the sh*te servers that are laggy as fook.
It seems like fifa is made for kids these days its way to easy on legendary im smashing teams 4, 5-0 all the time.
PES on the other hand is so damn hard but that makes it so rewarding when you grind out a 1-0 win on superstar level. When you finally grasp what konami are trying to achieve its a beautiful game as close to football as you can get.
Yes it dosent have licences but you can literally edit everything and tbh thats part of the reason i love it.
Having all the teams that fifa has is great in career it adds to realism of proper promotions/relegations, but online people only use 6 teams MAN UTD, MAN CITY, CHELSEA, REAL, BARCA and BAYERN thats it so licensing isnt a big deal.
All in all i cant wait for the new PES it seems they are trying to change unlike ea who release the same game with updated stats every year.
I think ea have got the fanbase nailed down anyone from 12 to 18yo will love it, but i think the hardcore football fan appreciate what konami are doing. PES has always been and still is the best football game around
