I am 13 years old. I am mature for my age and this is not my first M-Rated game, by the way. I have three Assassin's Creed games, Halo 3, Halo Reach, Halo 4, Call of Duty, Battlefield 3 and Gears of War. I mainly want GTA 4 because of the free roam world of Liberty City. I am planning on installing a mod called LCPD First Response. Which I guess removes the campaign, which I planned not to play anyways. It turns the game into a law enforcement simulator. I don't plan on going into the clubs and all that sh*t. (My parents don't care about the Violence, Blood and Strong Language, by the way). I hear swearing all day long. I've seen blood everywhere (as of everyone else). And Violence is in almost every game I play devil.gif . I've asked my parents before, but once and that was a couple years ago. I'm just asking if you guys think a 13-year-old should be playing GTA 4? (keeping in mind the M-Rated games I have and the mod I plan to install)

Thanks.

Sure. As long as you dont go killing, stealing, carjacking and using foul language in real life you should be fine.

I can't lie, in your position I would definitely play it. Age ratings are a curious thing. Some kids have a much healthier and mature nature than a lot of supposed adults, as is evidenced by this forums user base!

As a general rule I don't advocate minors playing or viewing content that's not suitable for them, but maturity is not black and white, and suitibility is therefore situational. I'd say if you were my son (I don't think you're my son?), I'd probably let you play.

I think you should. I've been playing this series since 2001 when I was only 7 and these games never made me go insane on a killing spree pretending I'm a GTA protag. Plus the LCPDFR mod is very educative in a way that you can roleplay as a good cop.

We're all hypocrites if we tell you not to play it. Because we all have back when we were teens.

Yup.. we've all played GTA's since we were teens. I'm now 23 and it was 2003 I believe when I got my first PC and played VC and III. So I was about your age and I don't see anything wrong with me. Occasionally I do run over people while driving and kill prostitutes but I don't blame GTA for that... just kiddin. Sure man, play it, enjoy it. I honestly believe you can actually learn something good from it unlike those ''concerned parents'' groups who think kids grow up to be satans if they play a game or two.

Seems like everyone here is roughly the same age as me...

So are you gonna play it OP?

I won't let my 12yo nephew play it mainly because of the sexual content. I let him play Red Dead as much as he wants.

It didn't die. Some people may not want to reply or didn't see it.

Don't watch these videos. If you will keep watching them, you will want the game even more. Do things that make the time pass faster and you will be able to ask before you will even know it.

Alright. Thanks. And I found some new mods. Police Helper 2000 and Native Trainer.

Of course you can play. I had my first GTA (GTA SA) at 12 and i'm 17 now and it was my mom who bought me that xD , it didn't affected me in any way wink.gif
If you're mature as you say, then there's no problem smile.gif

I read a book from a famous brain specialist and he wrote these games are very bad for the development of the brain of a child. I don't know if this goes for child of 12 or 13 but I would certainly not advice a game like this for young children.

I was between 10 and 12 years old when I first played GTA III on PS2 icon14.gif

It is funny though when I think about it. If I were a parent I'd make sure my kid
wasn't exposed to this stuff too early. But every person is different.

It's up to your parents.

IMO no, you should wait until your mind is completely developed, before playing or watching really violent crap. I suggest at least 17 or older.

Not saying there should be a law either. It's up to the parents to decide if their child is mature enough for a certain thing, not the government or some wanker off the street. I think the parents need to take more interest on actually what their kids are playing and watching and not just blame the actual media as if its some kind of hyono-killer-machine-maker.
