Now for the upgrades:
Things i have got already:

.ASUS P8Z77-V LK *Already got it*
.ASUS Q Connector Kit *Already got it*
.G Skill DDR3 1333mhz 4gb ram *Already got it* it's just for now .

Things i still need to get:

-CPU I7 3770k
-GPU - will come in due time tho thinking of GTX 660
-Dust filters for the fans ,case has 2 for the front .
-Ram Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) Quad Channel DDR3 1600 MHz

Now that ill be using alot of the stuff that is in the PC ,i won't have to get much for the upgrade .

Here is the Mother Board i have chosen Pls note i was going to get the Sabertooth z77 but thought to my self after looking @ reviews & reading the posts that it would be to much to spend on it due to it having Military grade components & the thermal shield,so i got this board:

Just for next time; Quot& Military components Unquote is just marketing.
The military doesn't use special super duper parts haha, I would say most of their computers are relatively average Pre-builts actually, the higher end ones reserved for simulations and such.

TUF board with 2 year extra warranty, has less features than their standard and ROG boards.
For the 2 year extra warranty, Asus has to taken out the onboard power/reset switch and Diag LEDs.
My guess is Asus is afraid those 3 components will die sooner than the 5 year warranty so they decided not
to install it?

To be honest unless you are building torture racks you don't really need either. Do the TUF boards still have the MEM OK button, though? That's the one of those buttons that's vaguely useful.

660 and i7 3770k? Do you plan on doing a lot of CPU-intensive things? It might be better to just get a lower end i7 and invest more money into the GPU.

finn4life-Stinky12: Here is the infromation on asus site on Sabertooth z77
about the components :

TUF Components (Choke, Cap. & MOSFET; Certified by Military-standard)

Certified for Tough Duty
Get rugged performance even in the most challenging conditions with robust TUF chokes, solid capacitors, and MOSFETs--certified through third-party, military-grade testing. TUF Chokes, also known as the “Alloy Choke”, is a made of a compound of various types of metal instead standard iron, enables the support of up to a massive 40A of rated current, 25% higher than conventional component. Furthermore, the single piece packaing also elimates the emission of virbation noise, delivering superb charactoristics as well as durability under extreme conditions.

sivispacem:
the Sabertooth does have MEM ok button
This P8Z77-V LK im going to use Also has the MEM ok button

TheJustinAllenK:
660 and i7 3770k that's the plan but ill wait later to get the GPU .

Ok guys i hope ive addressed your questions ... biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

EDIT ive come to the conclusion that ill be getting the i5-3570K instead if i see the need to upgrade the option is always
there & may do it ... Simply due to the cost of course ... mercie_blink.gif

Hey again ,im back with yet another update on the build & guess what The build has started & completed for the moment
& im using it now . I got *screens*Benchmarks*3D MARK 11*HEAVEN 2.1*CPU-Z*

So lets get right into it -

1st stripping the the case ,or as i like to call it bare bone it ,cleaned it & only leaving
1 Cold Cathode (light) in the case

user posted image

Following this i laid out the goodies (eye candy if you may)
They are : starting from top to bottom of the picture

user posted image

1.Case-Antec Df-30
2.CPU-I5-3570K
3.CPU COOLER-Termaltake SpinQ VT
4.Sound Card-Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Series PCI Express (64 mb X-RAM)
5.Mother board-ASUS-P8Z77-V-LK
6.GPU-ASUS-GTX-460-1GB-DDR5
7.Fan controller-4xfan control
8.Thermal Paste-Cooler Master
9.Sata-Cables-ASUS
**1 thing i forgot is he ram (just for now as you know if you have read up top-is G-skill ddr3 1333mhz 1x4gb**
Read up top for the upgrade *i May get*

Then i got right into the build spending alot of time not rushing but keeping *cable management* in mind
as this case is very poor for that . All tho it may be bad ,Any build still can be done nice if you think about it & take you're time.
Now when i started the build i come across a few minor hick ups as we all do ,1st 1 for me was the *CPU-Cooler* it wasn't sitting right & was thinking WTF so not forcing things i looked @ the back of the case and noticed OHH yeah ok the Pin is not correctly inserted in the whole so that got fixed .2nd hick up was to see if infact the case had adequate *pci* slots .Lucky enough 7/7 so thank EF for that.

Ok there is a couple pics here - & pls keep in mind this camera is a
Dino year 2000 ish-not upgrading it as phones are better ,& if you prefer that let me know xd.
The build as it looks now Also having in mind i havn't put all the light's in now turned them on will do later .
As it is to cold @ the moment *lazy me* Anyway here it is .If you have any questions about the build *I will update it as time goes on* - Do ask ! ENJOY ... biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif Sorry 1 more thing the cable managment is half complete so bare with ...

ok guys it's been ages since an update has been done...

slowly getting things done for this build ,as time goes on.

2 Things i upgraded for this upgrade .

1. 24 Pin ATX 12V PSU Extension Cable Blue Sleeved 30cm/12"
2. 2x4gb Ram - Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz DDR3

Will be getting the same batch of memory again to populate all dim slots & means i won't have to get more in the future (as this is all the MB can handle (32gb) -16gb max for Win-7 Home Prem ) & that's plenty .Also the 8pin power cable is now slit behind the motherboard .

Pics & thank you for looking. Enjoy- Sorry for the pic sizes eeep ..

I was curious, is it possible to change the bulbs inside the case? Blue is overused, it'd be cool to have a few different colours I reckon, perhaps a red, yellow, green and violet (if it's possible to have a violet bulb,I forget how those things work).

But yeah mixing up the colours would be a cool idea.

I know it looks nicer in real life, you took the photos in low light so they're gonna look crappy. But I'm sick of blue anyway, almost everyone has blue.

New update on my build - I finally after LIKE ever bought a Brand Spankin New GPU - Asus GTX 660 Direct CU 2gb

Great upgrade from the Asus GTX 460 1gb .

Fun stuff :::
*my GTX 460 maxed out got a 3d mark 11 entry score of just: E7441
*The new GTX 660 Stock Score was outstanding : E10201

Now with it Clocked to the max i could thus far : E10719
Also on the GTX 460 about 50fps on the lowest setting on GTA IV pc
On the GTX 660 Max settings it's about 90fps ,lowest FPS i seen was 60 something .so i will Def- be grabbing another 1 .

1 last thing - Question for you Experts with out using the bridge connecter is it possible to connect the old GTX 460 to the the rig - if so would i gain a bit of FPS even if it's 10fps it will help . If not all good i plan on grabbing another GTX 660 rather soon ...

Hope you like this update on my build - won't be adding any pics of the build this time around not till i either get ,another GTX 660 or complete my ram .As the gaol is to have 4x4gb biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Are you asking if you can make SLI from GTX660 + GTX460? If so, the answer is no. All you can do is to use GTX460 for PhysX, which would be a waste IMHO.

Love that CPU cooler. Looks pure evil! Considering a case upgrade too but I do love my Antec 900. Considered getting a new CPU but I think the 2500K will last a couple more years at least. Once thing I definitely need to get is a decent SSD, been putting it off for ages now.

Cheap water cooling sets are actually less efficient, louder and more expensive than decent air coolers.

yojo2:

if that is the case ill stick to this then Till i can later on Fund a proper EK & so on parts for a decent water loop , what i had in mind for it is an external Radiator loop ill link to a fellow Aussie that does them well.

Link - Singularity Computers this guy is a Geenius.

Possible New Case i want to get i realy like the looks of the Wide open window makes me think that if i am to build inside it will be free (not $$$), just a nice wide open space .

It's the : Carbide Series® Air 540 High Airflow ATX Cube Case
Cost is $199 more willing to pay for it. Looks amazing ,well built & fits my personal ascetic's i want a Wide open window case .

It gets better & the dibs & dabs of most of the hardware is in the back section.

& Yes it will fit everything i Plan to get & Have already .

I like the case although I think the blue cathodes are a bit too much, they drown out all others colours if you see what I mean. I reckon you should see what some white LEDs look like
