I know nobody is thinking about this now, or probably even cares, but for some reason I started thinking about where GTA 6 will be set.

Pretty sure it won't be Liberty City again again, or San Fiero or Las Venturas. Will it finally be time for a next gen Vice City, 15 years after the original?

Or back to London? Or somewhere completely new.

Interested to hear your thoughts.

I'm sure lots of people wonder about that.

This is the V section though...

I wonder if it'll be set in the same universe...

It's an interesting thought. I feel like it might as well be, as the leap between this gen and next-gen in terms of graphics won't be as big as the leap between current-gen and last-gen. Plus, there's a lot more to explore in this continuity. To an extent, it really doesn't need to shift into a new continuity until they feel the need to revisit an old location from this 'universe' again.

Indeed. The discussion's best left to the GTA Series Chat section, of course there's already several threads about GTA 6 over there, I'd imagine.

1973 Vice City + surrounding beaches, swamps, country side all the way down to the keys. Hopefully with the Bahamas also. biggrin.gif Smuggling coke over the boarder.

Why 1973? If anyone is aware with the series Dexter, that's the year when his mother was chopped up in the shipping container. 1973 Miami would be awesome.

If next-gen consoles can pull off procedural, real-time accumulating snow, it might be cool for them to do a more northern location to make use of it. Not Liberty City again, not so soon, but a place kind of like that (for me, Detroit in particular springs to mind), only with the inclusion of some of the surrounding area (I think it'll be hard for us to accept a GTA that's just city again after GTA V, but it doesn't have to be as much). Having just gotten out of Liberty City, I can see that being an unpopular opinion, but I think the next GTA should contrast GTA V just as GTA V contrasted GTA IV. I think it should have a very different feel and color palette to GTA IV, because I don't just want the same thing over again either. It can be an even less serious game than GTA V. I just think it would be unique to have the first GTA city that gets snowfall, and then on sunny days you still see bits of snow around the street, with the dirty runoff flowing down the sides of streets and through cracks, morning sunlight glinting off of it, the beauty starkly contrasted against the absurdly dirty and crumbling city (an exaggeration of the real thing). A beautiful way to take advantage of next-gen's capabilities.

Hell, dunno why I'm talking about it here. Will probably be closed soon considering it's not really the right section for it.

I'll be too busy enjoying GTA V. But it's always nice to have the occasional thought experiment.

I'd say Carcer City; if there were mentions of the city in the past, why wouldn't R* use it as the setting for GTA VI?

I was actually thinking that my version of Detroit would be called Carcer City, but the version in IV and V's 'universe' as opposed to III's, and sort of like Liberty City, it goes from being based on several cities to just being based on Detroit (the original version also had some influence from Detroit). It could be part of a new state based on Michigan, or it could extend the reach of Liberty State so that it's still part of the same state of Liberty City.

Either Vice City or London I think. Also the second and probably last next gen GTA could be a huge game set in the Deep South including parodies of Alabama, South Carolina, Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana,Texas and maybe Florida.

I've thought of that as well. A sprawling Deep South GTA, which includes many cities which aren't extremely large but spread all out across a gigantic map. There's a good amount of variety to be had there, with environments and climates ranging from forests, to grasslands, deserts, swamps and snowy mountains. A hell of a lot of material for parody, as well.

@Fail_At_GTA
I agree that we shouldn't spend too much time worrying about what lies beyond the mountain when we haven't even climbed the next hill, but there's nothing wrong with a little harmless discussion and thoughts. It's really more about passing around interesting ideas, since we can't exactly talk about such things for V, since we've known its setting for quite some time. The main problem is that this isn't really the right section for such a discussion.
