Ok, my last topic on this subject failed, so I thought I'd be more specific this time.

What cars in your opinion still look modern and could be sold brand new today? (Talking about ones that aren't in production anymore obviously)

The BMW E60. Released in 2003, it's been with us for seven years, but now, after 10 years, I gotta say the 2003 design still looks great! If BMW's policy was different, I'm pretty sure the E60 would still sell well alongside the F10.

The 2004 Volvo S40. The car itself was quite popular actually. It was at the time called the most attractive Volvo. Still looks great in my opinion and could be sold new today. The 2007 facelift however - meh.

The 9-3 could wery well still be in production, 2002 was the first production year

To keep with the German tradition, the E65 also looks worthy of being made in 2013.

If you take the pre-facelift front, and the post-facelist rear, you'd have a great car. Looks much nicer than the F01, IMO.

Underneath it's related to Ford's Focus, which means it's among the smaller saloons out there. Sharply styled inside and out Volvo's usual virtues of safety and simplicity remain core to its appeal. Introduced in late 2004 the long production run means plenty of choice on the used market, for almost every budget.

We knew the new S40 meant business even before we got behind the wheel. A ringer for a stubbier S60, the S40 looks as if it had spent many a long winter's night at a Swedish gym. Examine the fresh next to the stale, and the new car appears more athletic, highlighted by short overhangs and bulging fenders. It is aggressive where the previous car was timid. More important, it now looks like a Volvo. Perhaps it bears too much family resemblance to the S60, but overall, it's a sportier, welcome guise.

- Car And Driver

And the S40 was popular in Ireland for its design. I don't know about the rest of Europe, but in years 2004-2008 it was the best selling Volvo in Ireland ever.

The Porsche Carrera GT (2004-2007) looks like a car that Porsche could have made today.

While certainly still looking very modern looking, the previously mentioned E60 and E65 have to be the 2 ugliest cars that company has ever made. The F01 and F10 are basically the same car with some of the really ugly features smoothed out a bit.

Id say the 360 Modena looks incredibly modern still, looks like a new car. And they released this car 14 years ago.

I agree, the 360 looks like it could have came out recently.

Speaking of Ferraris, the Enzo looks pretty modern, could have came out in 2012/2013.

I've always thought the Mk1 Leon Cupra R has aged rather well:

+1 to the Cupra, it looks better than today's equivalent in my opinion. @5-series: It's starting to look dated to me, it's still a great looking car of course.

I think Lexuses age incredibly well, both in terms of styling and durability. In person IS200s look brand new while their Mercedes C-Class counterparts are literally rusting away.

The VY Commodore has done quite well for itself IMO, apart from the tacky wheels.

Not much of a fan of this car but you could pass it off as brand new to someone like my GF who knows very little about cars.

The RX7. I think this car is simply timeless. Apart from the flip up lights, it looks about as modern as any other car. Still shares the basic styling model of brand new Mazdas.

The Toyota Supra, another one of my favorite cars.

Thanks to its styling the Lancia Thesis (launched 2002) is difficult to pin an age on.

I disagree. The VE's styling (at least off of my perception) dumps all over the VY's.

Then again, at least the VY looks easier on the eye than the VX or the VT. barf8bd.gif

No, I knew the point. I'm saying those two cars I posted still look pretty modern enough to be sold brand new if it was brought back into production again. I was just venting a little bit at the end though. smile.gif

Surely that Cadillac didn't even look modern in 1996?
