The Boston marathon is usually one of the safest days in Boston. You can't even feel safe anymore, slowly losing my faith in humanity.

Too early to say conclusively who was involved, but my stab in the dark is definite domestic terrorism, most likely related to the extreme right/militia movement. Possible lone wolf nutter, has an air of Unabomber/McVeigh about it. Indiscriminate targeting but relatively small-scale, primitive devices. Will see how this develops.

There's no way it was political.

I don't think I've heard of a domestic bombing that doesn't have some sort of politics behind it. And it doesn't have to be against who's in power (at a Presidential or Prime Ministerial level) the political element can be of any level.

Small primitive informal devices are best for terror attacks.
Many wounded is more fearsome than a lot of dead.
Dead are good for show at the funeral, but wounded are visible for years.

You noticed that it was two bombs? The first causes the initial damage, the second is delayed to get the responders. To put fear in the minds of the responders.

2 Dead 25 wounded according to the report I'm hearing now.

However to call it 'Indiscriminate targeting'? I doubt that.

I disagree. This sort of atrocity always has a point.
The directionless madman will simply shoot some kids or his co-workers.
When a bomb goes off you can bet that the killer set it off to 'avenge' some perceived wrong.

What do you think the justification for murdering innocent, unarmed civilians will be this time? Zionists? Crusaders? Zionist-Crusaders? Or maybe it will just be another member of the Turner Diaries fanclub trying to take down the government - one woman and child at a time.

The motivations are an irrelevance now anyway, whoever did this is a murderer and will only ever be remembered as a murderer.

Terrorists usually care about more dead. The fear will spread throughout the country. It won't affect just the people in Boston.

Heck... for that matter it could be O'bama seeking another excuse to move toward the Democratic Police State.

Let's see what 'New Emergency Law' develops to protect the People.

Breaking News:  Citing a US intelligence official, the Associated Press reports two more explosive devices have been found at the Boston Marathon and are being dismantled.

Probably aiming for a chain event attack, the net result now is that Boston will probably be on a semi lockdown in order to scan the route.

Apparently a 2nd and 3d undetonated device is found. Two more. The first one was already detonated by bomb squad, they now found another 2. According to FOX.

Oh I'm sitting here, white-knuckled in anticipation for your 'blame-the-right' analytic response. How about observing the severity and shock of this incident before letting your premature political affiliated allegations hold court.

What sickens me is the guy (or guys) who did this, is/are watching the news and enjoying it. I hope that person gets justice.

This sort of thing makes me sick, absolutely disgusting people can do this to others.

I mean, we're all the same, we are all born and stuck on this little planet, we all get to live up to 80 years if we're lucky, but when you compare 80 years to the grand scheme of unlimited time and space and eternity, we really don't get long to live in the slightest.

So why these evil pricks got to blow people up and make it even shorter for them innocent's? These f*ckers need to burn.

Thoughts go out to all those effected by the bombings.

Probably precautionary, although it's early days yet I would lean to this being domestic not an international event (read al Quida), simply because the 2 bombs are such a low level and have been fairly weak, the reports of two other devices on top of the one at the JFK library to me seems like they've tried to go for the domino effect, but it's been poorly executed. If it was an international event it would have been timed to second for maximum effect.

Roupen Bastajian, a 35-year-old Rhode Island state trooper, had just finished the race and donned a heat blanket when he heard the first blast. "I started running toward the blast. And there were people all over the floor,'' he tells AP.Mr Bastajian adds: "We started grabbing tourniquets and started tying legs. A lot of people amputated... At least 25-30 people have at least one leg missing, or an ankle missing, or two legs missing.''

I really hope this is not true.........

Boston's transport authority says it is closing some of the subway lines in the city.

Not the same thing.
Especially as sivispacem is a right winger himself, just talk to him about David Cameron sometime.
He was merely making an astute observation based on America's history of home-grown rightist/Neo Nazi terrorist cells.

It's not equatable to using this atrocity to slander the American government and propagate your own warped, paranoid delusions of some forthcoming dictatorship.

Doubtful, the trigger man had to be somewhat close to the explosive.

Sounds right, according to the reports that are saying that many are injured.

It's just sad that someone could turn this tragedy into a political debate. I was just on a news website, and I went to the comment section, and it was full of people blaming Obama and Bush. It's really depressing. All of my condolences go out to the victims and their families.

The bombs apparently came from the inside of the Fairmount... I wonder how many people were inside.

It's sad, but I know that pretty soon, all the aspie conspiracy theorists will come in, say it was an inside job, and that all the marathon runners were actors.
