Is Mt. Chiliad in GTA V based off the San Gabriel Mt. Range?

No, apparently, it's reportedly based on Mt. Diablo in Contra Costa Country. icon14.gif (according to gta.wikia.com)

i always thought it was the mountains near hayward california was mt. diablo. whenever i headed to san francisco. you can see the other side of the bay but mt. diablo is all the way in there near walnut creek. pretty huge.

i like what it says about mt.diablo in wikipedia in the Legends and Folklore section.there should be somethings like this in that perticulat mountain in GtaV.

Mount Diablo has long been the site of numerous reports pertaining to cryptozoology, hauntings, mysterious lights, and various other Fortean phenomena (it is rumored that the name "Mount Diablo" is derived from the propensity for such weird events to be alleged at, or in the immediate vicinity, of the mountain). Phantom black "panthers" are seen with unusual frequency on the slopes of the mountain, as well as at the "Devil's Hole" region of the Las Trampas Regional Wilderness. As early as 1806, General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo reported an encounter with a flying, spectral apparition, while engaged in military operations against the Bolgones band of the Bay Miwok tribe. In 1873, a live frog was said to be found within a slab of limestone at a mine on Mount Diablo.

Well, I'm pretty sure it's going by the Mt. Chiliad in GTA San Andreas, as it's near San Fierro. The Mt. Chiliad in GTA V is within the surrounding area of Los Santos, so it's probably based on a mountain or mountain range nearer to that area's real life counterpart this time around. Same name, but technically different mountain.

Mt. Chilliad has always been my favourite tourist attraction. I'd really love to see how it's gonna turn out in V. I wonder if there's gonna be a cabin in there, so that I can bring bitches there and kill them.

I dont believe this. I guess it will be more rockier,...like the big mountain you can see in the screen where Trevor walks on the sidewalk in the village,...

The mountain in Pic1 doesn't even look like mount Chilliad.

The mountain in Pic2 is DEFINITELY Mount Chilliad.
The Area in the Pic3 screenshot might be Chilliad's peak.

The Mountain in this screenshot might also be the mountain in Pic1.

This icon14.gif Everything but the name of the mountain has changed. Use your brains people, this game is set no where near Mt Diablo, so they can no longer use that for the mountains inspiration.

I think it's pretty obvious that the Mountain we saw in the first trailer is Mt. Chiliad.

Game Informer said you could see Mt. Chiliad from all point of the map.

What excites me most about this image is the fact that this is not the peak; look closely at the top right of the image and you can see that it continues further up, silhouetted against the clouds.

I wonder if someone can change the contrast and lighting of that image so we can see the full silhouette of the mountain.

Has anybody ever noticed that road I circled? I just noticed this for the first time.

Also I labeled the peak.
