Every time i exit the booth tunnel going into algonquin the ingame phone always makes that buzzing sound when its caught a signal from something. Does this happen to you at all. It even does it on multiplayer.

I don't think it's the phone, it's the radio in the car. When you have a call coming in, you'll hear your in-game radio making those sounds. Something to do with signal interference.

It's what happens when the radio signal interferes with a phone signal.

That never happens in real life.

It's called "GSM" interference, and it happens in real life too. It's the radio that makes the noise. Not the phone. The phone causes it to.

This is completely normal in-game and it does happen in real life.
The most noticeable place is when you go into an underground parking lot and have the radio is on, it starts playing static, right?
Well its the same thing, both the phone and the antenna lost coverage and are trying to tune back, which in real life happens when you're leaving/entering a tunnel that doesn't have radio signal coverage or when you're going to a part of the country that have different radio frequencies, etc..
I actually found this was really nice to be in the game, its such a small detail but its really interesting that they actually remembered that factor.

And this is why R* rules! rahkstar2.gif

Do I have to have my phone out for this to happen?

Nope. It happens just before you receive a call, if you're in a car with the radio on. It on. It happens sometimes though.

If I remember correctly this was in Chinatown Wars as well. Especially in any mission to do with jamming trucks or signals. But sometimes while driving normally too.
