Hey Guys,

gotta question: Is it possible to use skins from componentpeds as skins in playerpeds? I know it is possible with Playerselector, but it crashes in cutscenes?
Is there any way to make this work?

For example i would like to play with this skin: user posted image

I already tried to export the textures from componentpeds.img to playerpeds.img... but it doesn't work.

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Wouldn't you need the model as well as the textures...

are you trying to use a san andreas model in gta 4?

I am unfamiliar with san andreas modding, so I don't know what file type it is.

No, these are usual GTA IV comoponentpeds (ghetto skins).

Here is another one: http://img3.imageban...mhj/blood3d.png

They are all in componentpeds.img. For example: m_y_Queen or m_y_harlem.
Take a look if you want.. they are for GTA IV.

This may not be possible, not unless you can get all these files from each individual ped you want to use.

feet_000_u.wdr
feet_diff_000_a_uni.wtd
hair_000_u.wdr
hair_diff_000_a_uni.wtd
hand_000_r.wdr
hand_diff_000_a_whi.wtd
head_000_r.wdr
head_diff_000_a_whi.wtd
lowr_000_u.wdr
lowr_diff_000_a_uni.wtd
sus2_000_u.wdr
teef_000_u.wdr
teef_diff_000_a_uni.wtd
uppr_000_u.wdr
uppr_diff_000_a_uni.wtd

If these files do not exist in this format for the peds, then you will need to convert and export the 3D model in order to make each of those files.

i can get these files you mentioned.. but they have a different structure. Look on lowr_diff for instance: in playerped.img they are just pants and in componentpeds pants+shoes. Furthermore it is impossible to get the fat style of pants, instead of tight as it Niko has.

Have you got any ideas?

if you can get the files I have mentioned from the component peds then back up your playerped.rpf file and use OpenIV to import them into the rpf file.

then a certain set of your clothes should make him look like you want him to...

Thor110

or check out this page and look for a player model you want to use... http://www.gta4-mods.com/player

Thor, i don't wanna sound like an arse but why are you trying to give info when you have no idea what you're talking about? I don't wanna come across as too negative and i really appreciate that you want to help, but i'm just puzzled at that.

OP, To make turn a ped into a player model you need to have 3ds Max + GIMS + OpenIV. Export the ped to 3dsmax, remove it's skeleton, import Niko, rig the ped to Niko's (player-format) skeleton, export, done. smile.gif Yeah that's a huge oversimplification but i can give all the info about every step, done it before plenty of times.

Edit: I forgot to say, 3ds Max 2012 is the version you'll need. icon14.gif

I did say he would probably have to convert the model across...

I just didn't mention what program he would have to use, there are a tonne of tutorials out there for this sort of stuff, he should go find it himself to be honest.

Thor110

Also what you have to consider is that I have been modding gta for ooh what, a week?

Ah ok, understandable. I interpreted it like you saying that re-naming was all that's needed, which is false, so that's why i got all pissy about it. tounge.gif

Barcaninho, you're gonna need more than just OpenIV to get what you want, good luck though.

So is there a tangible way how to do it? Step-by-step instructions from professional texture editors would be appreciated, if possible.
Or is there somebody ready to help me with that?

Thanks in advance!

A quick google search is all it takes...

Thor110

P.S. I have not viewed it but as Frank.s there mentioned you have to delete nikos body and attach the ped to the skeleton then export it, I do not know the ins & outs, check that video out, see if it is any help.

OK guys,

I've managed to do what i wanted. But there is a little problem with the face:
I imported the "head_000_r" from the model i wanted into playerped. Consequently, I have to open it with SparkIV in order
to change the specs. But it doesn't work.. Spark IV gives me this error: "There are no embedded textures in the selected model file to edit."
I just need to open that and to replace it with the right textures and specs and everything is done. In-game, I can see the error because of that,
as my player has something like branches on the head.

Any ideas?

I appreciate any help.

Now i understood the following:
As you can see in the picture, Niko's hair is in the face of my character. Furthermore there is a problem with teeth and hands. Probably the texture problem is caused by that. The remaining problem is that I can't open head_000_r.wdr (SparkIV doesn't allow that - I don't know why and I can't click "Edit" on this file in OpenIV). Unfortunately, I can't get the teeth and the hairfile (+specs) from the componentpeds.

I am so near... but this last problem is still here.

PLEASE HELP
