TRY THIS :
Add a random cutscene objective after you have added the checkpoint, then after camera is set, all checkpoints are seen, after which even if you deselect the cutscene objective, the cutscenes will still be seen.

As for invisible while playing: did you select a invisible type of checkpoint (not the GPS marker invisible, but the checkpoint itself)?
