I've played gta 3 a couple of times, but it feels slow to get into action, if I stick it out is it a good game worth playing?

For a game released in 2001, You can't expect too much but you should stick to it, It's a really fun game.

Hell yes. One of my favourite games of all time. It's storyline is fairly slow at the beginning but once you get towards the end of the first island, which can be done with 30 minutes, you'll never get off it. The vehicles are amazing, the setting is amazing and the characters are amazing. I wouldn't want anyone to change anything from the game, not even the 2001 graphics. There are pros and no cons.

Once you get to the second island, action picks up a bit more. I'd agree that it is pretty slow during the first island, but it gets better. There are some really great vehicles to discover, too.

LOL stupid question. This game is better than GTA IV and San Andreas combined.

You can shoot the limbs off people (on PC without cheats, on PS2 with cheat) 'nuff said.

Of course it's worth playing, though if you haven't played it in the past the nostalgia factor will be lost on you. It will definitely feel a lot more primitive compared to the later GTAs (no bikes, no crouching, extremely few interiors, etc.), but I've always thought the city was a lot more interesting than the later games. It felt more like an urban jungle without being too complicated to figure out, which I felt complemented the storyline of the game very well. If I feel like going on a rampage in a Grand Theft Auto game, 9 times out of 10 I stick GTA3 in my disk drive.

Definitely worth at least a play-through, even in 2013. Just remember the game is 12 years old now (holy sh*t) and it will have its shortcomings. smile.gif

Well, that's just your opinion. Everyone to their own. IMO, every GTA game is worth playing anytime. Every GTA game has it's flaws, but there are MANY things to enjoy in every one of them, too.

Of course man, you're right. But driving mechanics in IV are terrible. Feels like driving a boat.

Did you actually expect someone to say no on a GTA forum, not to mention in the GTA III section? smile.gif

After San Andreas it's my favorite GTA. Simply because of the atmosphere. It's dark enough to feel like a crime game but light enough to feel like a vibrant city.

On thing I like to mention is the soundtrack. Defiantly underrated.

Once you get into a groove with this game there is no turning back, I beat it for the first time on a PC last summer and then first time ever on PSN (or PS2/3) a few months ago and it quickly became a favorite.

It starts off slow but once you get passed those points it honestly turns amazing with not much "filler" or pointless missions like in San Andreas imo

Graphics and gameplay may be laughable these days, but it's really worth to see and play the game that practically changed the open world games.

Exactly. I still find GTA III fun to this day. Liberty City is an amazing city. Playing GTA III brings back lots of great memories.

GTA III will always be one of my favorite GTA games because of how unique it is. At the time everything was 'new'. No game had a storyline or side missions like GTA III did.

It may seem boring at first, but if you play around for some time you'll start to get a feel for it. Plus, not so deep into the game, you'll get caught up in an interesting storyline - and while some may say that the onset is somehow boring, trust me, what follows after will not be so grey.

Moreover, look around the city, sink in the ambience, the sounds, the atmosphere - and you will possibly find yourself actually LOVING the game. More that any other from the series.

Every game is worth playing so that you can form your own opinion on it. There will be people that will love it and people that hate it so if you did give it a try or watch some gameplay footage you may be able to tell for sure whether you feel it is worth playing. As Arsen Vitiuk said, the game may seem boring at this point but if you were to actually play and explore the ambience you will possibly find yourself enjoying the game more than you believed you ever would

Just out of curiousity when did you first play it? I doubt it was when it was new because why would anyone have found it boring when there was nothing else like it?

The slow first missions were the most awesome to me because of the atmosphere of the Mafia...

But still overall the game is awesome.

If I turn in GTA IV, it feels like I am driving the Titanic. I don't care if it is realistic, I just wanna have an awesome police pursuit without crashing EVERY 5 SECONDS.

Just because it is more realistic, doesn't mean it is better!
